Flood Sensor Connectivity

This backflow preventer includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology. To activate its flood monitoring capabilities and receive alerts, an add-on sensor connection kit is required. The sensor, when activated, can relay alerts for potential flooding events. Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor, which enables integration with Building Automation Systems (BAS) via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

Pipeline Connections

  • The assembly features grooved fittings for both inlet and outlet gate connections, allowing for integral pipeline adjustment and easy installation.
  • The outside stem and yoke (OSY) resilient seated gate valves are designed for secure and reliable shutoff.

Additional Details

This Ames C500 8 inch stainless steel reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of fire protection substances and water of non-potable quality from being pumped or siphoned into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and/or backpressure. It is ideal for protection at cross-connections identified as health hazards, such as on fire sprinkler systems and from other contaminants found at the service line entrance.

A WARNING
It is illegal to use this product in a plumbing system providing water for human consumption, such as drinking or dishwashing, in the United States. Before installing standard material product, consult your local water authority, building and plumbing codes.

Components

  • Consists of two independent Link Check modules, a differential pressure relief valve, two drip tight shutoff valves, and required test cocks.
  • Contains a bypass assembly with a gallon per minute meter to detect underground leaks and unauthorized water use.
  • Features a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect continuous or excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • Includes domestic outside stem and yoke (OSY) resilient seated gate valves.

Features

  • Extremely compact design that is 70% lighter than traditional designs.
  • Housing and sleeve constructed from 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel.
  • Groove fittings for integral pipeline adjustment and easy installation.
  • Patented link check for lowest pressure loss.
  • Unmatched ease of serviceability with replaceable check disc rubber.
  • Bottom-mounted cast stainless steel relief valve.
  • The flood sensor relays a signal that triggers a multichannel alert to notify personnel about potential flooding.
  • Includes an integrated supervisory switch as an option on each gate valve of the OS&Y model.

NOTICE
An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component and will not communicate with any device. A retrofit sensor connection kit is also available for existing installations.

NOTICE
Use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge. Watts® is not responsible for the failure of alerts due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.
