FAQs

What is the primary function of the Colt C500 backflow preventer?

The Colt C500 reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly is designed to protect potable water supplies by preventing the reverse flow of non-potable fire protection substances due to backsiphonage or backpressure.

What material is the valve body and sleeve made from?

The entire valve body and closure sleeve of this assembly are manufactured from 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel, ensuring durability and corrosion resistance.

Does this backflow preventer include a flood sensor?

Yes, this assembly features a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect continuous water discharge from the relief valve, helping to prevent potential flooding events.

How does the flood sensor alert mechanism work?

To activate the flood sensor's alert features, an add-on sensor connection kit is required. When paired with this kit, the sensor can relay alerts for potential flooding events via options like BMS, cellular communication, or integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

What is the purpose of the cubic feet per minute meter?

The cubic feet per minute meter included with this backflow assembly is used to detect underground leaks and monitor for unauthorized water usage from the fire sprinkler system.
