This Colt™ 8 inch reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of fire protection substances and water of non-potable quality from being pumped or siphoned into the potable water supply. It is ideal for protection at cross-connections identified as health hazards, such as on fire sprinkler systems and from other contaminants found at the service line entrance.

Design & Construction

• Features an extremely compact design, making it 70% lighter than traditional models.
• The housing and sleeve are constructed from durable 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel.
• Incorporates groove fittings for integral pipeline adjustment and easy installation.
• Equipped with a patented link check for the lowest possible pressure loss.
• Offers unmatched ease of serviceability with replaceable check disc rubber.
• Includes a bottom-mounted cast stainless steel relief valve.
• A metered bypass is included to detect leakage or theft of water from the fire sprinkler system.
• Available with OS&Y (Outside Stem and Yoke) resilient seated gate valves.

Flood Detection

• Integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
• An add-on sensor connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor for alert relay.
• Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor, which enables integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.
• The OS&Y model includes an option for an integrated supervisory switch on each gate valve.
