Additional Details

The 8 inch FEBCO MasterSeries® LF866 Lead Free Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Backflow Preventer assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems against backpressure and backsiphonage of high hazard/toxic fluids. It is commonly used in industrial installations and applications where local governing codes mandate protection.

This assembly features a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When paired with an add-on connection kit (sold separately), the sensor is activated to relay alerts for potential flooding events via BMS, cellular communication, or integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

Construction & Features

  • Ductile iron body construction with patented ArmorTek® 3-part advanced epoxy coating for enhanced resistance to microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and exposed metal substrate corrosion.
  • Equipped with UL Classified and FM Approved OS&Y resilient wedge gate shutoff valves for reliable control.
  • Features stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Inline serviceable assembly design allows for maintenance without special tools.
  • Includes a metered bypass assembly with a 5/8" x 3/4" gallons per minute (GPM) water meter to detect leaks or unauthorized water usage.
  • Lead Free construction meets low lead installation requirements (wetted surface contains less than 0.25% lead).
  • Utilizes four properly located resilient seated test cocks.

Important: An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor for communication; without it, the sensor is passive. The flood sensor does not replace the need for proper drainage or compliance with installation and maintenance codes.

FAQs

What is the primary function of the FEBCO MasterSeries LF866 backflow preventer?

This backflow preventer is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage of high hazard or toxic fluids. It is typically used in industrial installations.

Is this backflow preventer compliant with lead-free regulations?

Yes, the FEBCO MasterSeries LF866 is Lead Free, meaning its wetted surfaces contain less than 0.25% lead by weight, complying with low lead installation requirements.

How does the integrated flood sensor work?

The flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate its communication capabilities and relay alerts (e.g., via call, email, text), an add-on connection kit (sold separately) is required.

What are the main components that contribute to its durability?

Its durability stems from a ductile iron body with a patented ArmorTek® 3-part advanced epoxy coating for corrosion resistance, along with stainless steel relief valve seats and check components for maximum performance.

What is the maximum operating temperature for this backflow preventer?

The maximum continuous operating temperature range for this assembly is 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).
