Description

This 8 inch Lead Free reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly, SKU 88009312, protects potable water supplies from hazardous cross-connections and backflow. Designed for continuous pressure piping, it features a durable cast iron body with ArmorTek® advanced epoxy coating for superior corrosion resistance against MIC and metal substrate. The unique air-in/water-out relief valve ensures high discharge capacity during emergencies. Equipped with non-rising stem resilient seated gate valves and a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology, it detects excessive water discharge. An add-on kit is needed to activate the sensor for BMS, cellular, or Wi-Fi alerts.

Flood Sensor Connectivity

This backflow preventer features a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology. To activate the sensor and enable alert notifications, an add-on connection kit is required (sold separately). Without this kit, the sensor remains a passive component with no communication capabilities.

  • Connect the sensor via an add-on kit for BMS (Building Management System) integration.
  • Utilize an add-on kit for cellular communication to relay alerts.
  • Integrate with BAS (Building Automation Systems) via RS-485 Modbus using the Sensor Control Monitor kit.
  • Connect to the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi connectivity using the Sensor Control Monitor kit.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the Watts LF909 Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly?

The primary purpose is to prevent the reverse flow of polluted water into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage or backpressure, protecting against health hazards at cross-connections.

Is this backflow preventer compliant with "Lead Free" requirements?

Yes, the Watts Series LF909 features Lead Free construction, meaning the wetted surface of this product contacted by consumable water contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight.

How does the ArmorTek® coating benefit this backflow preventer?

The ArmorTek® coating is a patented three-part advanced epoxy system designed to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates, enhancing the durability and lifespan of the iron components.

How does the flood sensor feature work and what is required to use it?

The flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate the sensor and enable alert relay to facility personnel, an add-on connection kit (sold separately) is required.

What are the maximum operating pressure and temperature ratings for this assembly?

This assembly has a maximum working pressure of 175 PSI (12.06 bar) and a continuous operating temperature range of 33°F (0.5°C) to 110°F (43°C), with an intermittent temperature rating of 140°F (60°C).
