Flood Sensor Connectivity

  • The integrated flood sensor is designed to detect excessive water discharge from the relief valve.
  • To activate alert notifications for this sensor, an add-on connection kit is required (sold separately).
  • Connection kit options include direct BMS integration, cellular communication modules, or the Sensor Control Monitor.
  • The Sensor Control Monitor enables integration with Building Automation Systems (BAS) via RS-485 Modbus or connects to the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi for remote monitoring and alerts.
  • Without an add-on connection kit, the flood sensor remains a passive component and does not communicate with external devices.

Additional Details

The Watts Series LF909 8 inch reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is engineered to prevent the reverse flow of polluted water into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage or backpressure. It is ideal for continuous pressure piping applications, particularly at cross-connections identified as health hazards and other contaminants at the service line entrance.

This assembly features a robust cast iron body with advanced ArmorTek® coating and includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology for enhanced monitoring.

Construction & Design

  • Lead Free* construction meets installation requirements.
  • Body components are protected by ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system that reduces microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protects exposed metal substrates.
  • Includes outside stem and yoke (OSY) resilient seated gate valves for reliable shutoff.
  • Features captured spring check valves and replaceable seats for easy maintenance.
  • Equipped with top-mounted test cocks for verification.
  • A field reversible pressure differential relief valve with a unique "air-in/water-out" design provides maximum discharge capacity during emergency conditions.

Flood Sensor Technology

  • Integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • Sensor is installed on the assembly exterior and does not alter its primary functions or certifications.
  • When paired with an add-on connection kit (sold separately), the sensor activates to relay alerts to facility personnel, helping to limit potential flooding and associated damage.
  • Compatible with BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor for integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

NOTICE: An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor's communication features. Without the connection kit, the sensor is a passive component with no external communication.

FAQs

What is the primary function of the Watts Series LF909 Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly?

Its primary function is to prevent polluted water from flowing back into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage or backpressure, ensuring cross-connection control in health hazard applications.

What does "Lead Free" mean for this backflow preventer?

"Lead Free" indicates that the wetted surface of this product, which comes into contact with consumable water, contains less than 0.25% lead by weight, complying with modern installation requirements.

How does the ArmorTek® coating benefit this backflow preventer?

ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy system that coats the iron components, reducing microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protecting exposed metal substrates, significantly extending the product's lifespan.

What is the purpose of the integrated flood sensor?

The flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When activated with an add-on connection kit, it provides alerts to facility personnel, helping to prevent costly flooding and damage.

What is the maximum operating pressure and temperature range for this 8 inch assembly?

This assembly has a maximum operating pressure of 175 psi (12.06 bar). It can operate continuously from 33°F to 110°F (0.5°C to 43°C) and intermittently up to 140°F (60°C).
