Installation & Compatibility

  • This pressure vacuum breaker is designed for installation in a continuous pressure potable water supply system.
  • It must be installed in a vertical position with the supply connected to the bottom.
  • Maintain the valve at least 12 inches above the highest point of the downstream piping.
  • Ensure adequate space is available for periodic inspection, servicing, or testing.
  • Do not install in areas prone to freezing or spillage.
  • This device is designed to prevent backsiphonage; it is not designed, tested, or approved to protect against backpressure backflow or water hammer shock. For protection against backpressure backflow, consider a Watts LF009 Reduced Pressure Zone backflow preventer. For water hammer shock, install a Watts Series LF15 Water Hammer Arrestor.

Additional Details

This 1 1/2 inch Watts Series LF800M4FR is a Lead Free freeze-resistant pressure vacuum breaker backflow preventer designed to prevent the reverse flow of polluted water from entering into a potable water supply due to backsiphonage. It is commonly used in continuous pressure applications such as irrigation systems and industrial process water systems, particularly where water enters equipment at or below its flood rim.

Freeze Resistance & Protection

  • Features a unique built-in relief valve that relieves pressure caused by ice formation, protecting internal components and the backflow body during sudden freeze conditions.
  • An acetal bonnet acts as a "freeze plug" to prevent body damage.
  • Includes a freeze sensor for use with SentryPlus Alert® technology to monitor temperature and alert facility personnel when freeze conditions could cause damage.
  • The sensor offers built-in Wi-Fi function to communicate freeze alerts directly to the user, eliminating the need for a third-party controller.
  • The standalone sensor provides flexibility for locating a measuring tool near water-carrying outdoor installations vulnerable to freezing.
  • A WARNING: The freeze sensor solely provides alerts about a possible freeze event and cannot prevent a freeze event from occurring. User action is required to prevent freeze conditions from causing product and/or property damage. The use of the freeze sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide protection against a freeze event.

Design & Connections

  • Constructed with a Lead Free* cast copper silicon alloy body for durability.
  • Features a replaceable plastic seat and a silicone seat disc for durability.
  • Easy maintenance of internal parts with no special tools required for servicing.
  • An O-ring bonnet seal reduces the possibility of fouling.
  • Test cocks are positioned for easy testing and winterization.
  • Compact space saving design.
  • Equipped with lever handle quarter turn ball valve shutoffs on both inlet and outlet.
  • The device is reusable with the relief valve designed to automatically reseat.
  • Designed for bottom NPT inlet and side NPT outlet connections.
