Additional Details

The FEBCO Series LF860 Small Reduced Pressure Zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of high hazard (toxic) fluids from entering potable water supplies due to backsiphonage or backpressure.

This assembly is used in critical applications such as industrial plants, hospitals, morgues, mortuaries, chemical plants, irrigation systems, boiler feed, and general water lines where maximum protection is required.

Features

  • Provides potable water protection against cross-connection contamination.
  • Inline serviceable assembly requires no special tools for maintenance.
  • Includes a flood detection sensor on the relief valve to detect excessive water discharges.
  • Flood alerts can be activated with an add-on sensor connection kit, compatible with BMS and cellular communication.
  • Constructed with a lead-free* cast copper silicon alloy body.
  • Features threaded quarter-turn ball valves with union connections.
  • Includes top-mounted test cocks, spring-loaded check valves, and a pressure differential relief valve.

An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor's communication features; without it, the sensor is passive. It is critical to comply with all installation, operation, and maintenance instructions, codes, and regulations for this product.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the FEBCO LF860U-QT RP backflow preventer?

Its primary purpose is to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination by hazardous (toxic) fluids, preventing reverse flow caused by backsiphonage or backpressure.

What does "Lead Free" mean for this product?

"Lead Free" means that the wetted surface of this product, which contacts consumable water, contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight, complying with current lead-free installation requirements.

What type of connections does this 1 1/4 inch backflow preventer have?

This assembly features 1 1/4 inch female NPT (National Pipe Taper) threaded end connections with union ball valves. The union connections facilitate easier installation and removal.

What is the function of the flood sensor on the relief valve?

The flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When activated with an add-on connection kit, it can signal facility personnel for corrective action, helping to prevent flooding and damage.

What are the maximum operating pressure and temperature limits for this device?

This backflow preventer has a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12.1 bar) and can operate within a temperature range of 32°F to 140°F (0°C to 60°C).
