Additional Details

This 10 inch MasterSeries® LF880V Reduced Pressure Zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from backpressure and backsiphonage conditions for high hazard/toxic applications, in accordance with local governing water utility codes.

Design and Construction

  • Features a ductile iron valve body design, coated with ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate.
  • Designed with Lead Free construction to comply with low lead installation requirements.
  • Includes OS&Y (Outside Stem and Yoke) resilient seated gate shutoff valves that are UL Classified and FM Approved.
  • Equipped with stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Features a modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve, clapper check assembly, and captured O-ring design.
  • The assembly is inline serviceable, requiring no special tools.

Flood Sensor Technology

  • Includes a flood sensor on the relief valve to detect excessive water discharges.
  • The flood sensor relays a signal that can trigger a multichannel alert (call, email, text) to notify personnel about potential flooding.

An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that does not communicate with any other device. The flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product. Watts® is not responsible for the failure of alerts due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of this backflow preventer assembly?

This MasterSeries LF880V Reduced Pressure Zone assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage conditions from high hazard/toxic fluids, in compliance with local water utility codes.

Is this backflow preventer compliant with lead-free regulations?

Yes, this assembly features Lead Free construction, meaning the wetted surfaces contain less than 0.25% lead by weight. This complies with low lead installation requirements for potable water systems.

What type of shutoff valves are included with this assembly?

This assembly is fitted with OS&Y (Outside Stem and Yoke) resilient seated gate shutoff valves. These valves are UL Classified and FM Approved, making them suitable for fire sprinkler applications.

How does the flood sensor function, and what is required to activate it?

The flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. It relays a signal that can trigger alerts to personnel. An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor for communication with a BMS or cellular network.

What are the allowed installation orientations for this backflow preventer?

This assembly can be installed in either a horizontal (N-pattern) or vertical up (Z-pattern) orientation. Both patterns are approved by FCCCHR-USC, ASSE, cULus, FM, and IAPMO/CUPC.
