Installation Orientation

  • This Watts 957N Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly is designed for horizontal N-pattern installation. Ensure the assembly is installed in accordance with the direction of the flow arrow for proper function.

Connections

  • The assembly utilizes groove fittings which allow for integral pipeline adjustment and ease of installation.
  • When installing a drain line for the relief valve, use 957AG air gaps. Attach the air gap brackets directly onto the flood sensor.
  • To activate the flood sensor's communication features, an add-on sensor connection kit is required. This kit enables compatibility with BMS and cellular network communication, or integration with a Sensor Control Monitor for BAS via RS-485 Modbus or Nexa platform via Wi-Fi.

FAQs

What is the primary function of the Watts Series 957 backflow preventer?

The Watts Series 957 Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly protects potable water systems from contamination. It prevents the reverse flow of non-potable liquids into the clean water supply due to backpressure or backsiphonage, particularly in health hazard environments.

What type of shutoff valves are included with this assembly?

This assembly comes with UL Classified and FM Approved OSY (Outside Stem and Yoke) resilient seated gate valves. These valves provide reliable isolation and shutoff capabilities for the backflow preventer.

How does the integrated flood sensor work?

The Series 957 features a SentryPlus Alert flood sensor on the relief valve that detects excessive water discharges. When paired with an add-on connection kit, this sensor can relay signals for corrective action, sending alerts to facility personnel or integrated building management systems to prevent flooding.

What materials are used in the construction of this backflow preventer?

The housing and sleeve are made from 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel. Elastomers include EPDM, silicone, and Buna-N, while test cocks feature a Lead Free* bronze body. Internal components like springs and fasteners are stainless steel.

What are the temperature and pressure limitations for this device?

The Watts Series 957 Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly has a maximum working pressure of 175 PSI (12.1 bar). Its operational temperature range is 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).
