Additional Details

This 10 inch lead free MasterSeries® reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to protect against backpressure and backsiphonage conditions for high hazard/toxic fluids in potable water systems.

It is primarily used in water services for industrial installations and applications where local codes mandate protection from non-potable water sources.

Construction & Features

  • Features an epoxy coated ductile iron body, domestic outside stem and yoke (OSY) resilient seated gate valves, test cocks, spring-loaded check valves, and a pressure differential relief valve.
  • The ductile iron body is fused with patented 3-part ArmorTek® epoxy coating for advanced corrosion resistance, reducing both microbial induced corrosion (MIC) and exposed metal substrate corrosion.
  • Improved with a stainless-steel relief valve seat and stainless-steel check components for maximum performance, durability, and extended valve life.
  • This assembly contains a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the sensor is a passive component. Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor for integration with BAS via RS‑485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.
  • Servicing is inline and requires no special tools.
  • The flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required installation, operation, and maintenance instructions, codes, and regulations for this product. Proper drainage must still be provided in the event of a discharge. Watts® is not responsible for the failure of alerts due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.

FAQs

What type of fluid protection does the LF860 assembly provide?

The LF860 reduced pressure zone assembly is designed to protect potable water systems from backpressure and backsiphonage conditions, specifically for high hazard/toxic fluids.

What is the purpose of the ArmorTek coating?

The ArmorTek coating is a patented three-part advanced epoxy system applied to the ductile iron body. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal surfaces, enhancing the assembly's durability.

How does the integrated flood sensor work, and what is required to activate it?

The flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate it for alerts (call, email, text), an add-on connection kit (available separately) is required, which enables communication with BMS, cellular networks, or Wi-Fi.

Are special tools needed to service this backflow preventer?

No, the LF860 reduced pressure zone assembly features an inline serviceable design that does not require any special tools for maintenance.

What are the maximum operating pressure and temperature limits for this 10 inch model?

This 10 inch LF860 assembly has a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12.1 bar) and can operate continuously within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).
