Help Me Connect

Flood Sensor Connectivity

  • The integrated flood sensor is designed to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • To activate the sensor and enable communication for alerts, an add-on connection kit is required.
  • Connection kit options include those for Building Management Systems (BMS) or cellular communication.
  • The Sensor Control Monitor option enables integration with Building Automation Systems (BAS) via RS‑485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

Without an add-on connection kit, the flood sensor functions as a passive component and will not communicate with other devices for alerts.

Additional Details

The FEBCO 10 inch Lead Free MasterSeries® LF866 Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly (Type II) is designed to protect potable water systems from backpressure and backsiphonage conditions in high hazard and toxic applications.

This assembly is primarily used in industrial installations and applications where local codes mandate protection from non-potable quality water being pumped or siphoned back into the potable water system.

Main Valve Features

  • Features stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Inline serviceable assembly requires no special tools for maintenance.
  • Equipped with a captured modular spring assembly, reversible and replaceable discs, and field replaceable seats.
  • Durable ductile iron valve body design with ArmorTek® coating technology to resist corrosion of internals.
  • Includes a modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve and a clapper check assembly.
  • Features a captured O-ring design.
  • A flood sensor on the relief valve detects excessive water discharges. When activated with an add-on connection kit, the sensor relays signals for potential flooding events.

Auxiliary Bypass Features

  • Compact design that remains within the main valve assembly profile.
  • Includes an inline serviceable 3/4 inch check assembly that requires no special tools for maintenance.
  • Features a field replaceable seat and disc.
  • Designed to detect potential underground water leaks and unauthorized water usage.
  • Bypass line contains a 5/8 inch x 3/4 inch water meter for cubic feet per minute (CFM) totalizing.

NOTICE: An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that does not communicate with any other device. Watts® is not responsible for the failure of alerts due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.

FAQs

What is the primary function of the FEBCO LF866 backflow preventer?

The FEBCO LF866 is a Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly (Type II) designed to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage, especially in high hazard or toxic applications.

Does this backflow preventer include a flood sensor, and how does it work?

Yes, this assembly includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate the sensor for alerts, an add-on connection kit is required, which enables communication to BMS, cellular networks, or BAS platforms.

What materials are used for the main components, and are they protected against corrosion?

The main valve and relief valve bodies are made from ductile iron Grade 65-45-12. All iron components are protected with ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal surfaces.

What is the maximum operating pressure and temperature range for this assembly?

This FEBCO LF866 backflow preventer has a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12.1 bar). It can operate continuously within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).

What type of shutoff valves are included with this assembly?

This assembly is fitted with UL Classified and FM Approved OS&Y (Outside Stem and Yoke) resilient wedge gate valves, which comply with AWWA Standard C515.
