Description

This 10 inch MasterSeries LF886W Lead Free Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly (RPDA) protects potable water systems from high hazard fluids due to backpressure and backsiphonage. Featuring a ductile iron body with ArmorTek anti-corrosion coating, it offers superior durability. The assembly includes a CFM metered bypass and a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert technology to detect excessive relief valve discharge. Designed for N-pattern installations, it provides a longer lay-length for easy drop-in replacement of competitor units, ensuring reliable performance in industrial settings.

Connections & Compatibility

  • This assembly is designed for installation on potable water supply lines at points of cross-connection in industrial and high-hazard applications.
  • The N-pattern orientation is engineered for a direct drop-in replacement of competitor valves with a longer gate-to-gate length.
  • The integrated flood sensor requires an add-on connection kit for active communication. These kits enable alerts via BMS, cellular networks, or integration with a Building Automation System (BAS) through RS-485 Modbus or Wi-Fi (Nexa® platform).

Additional Details

This 10 inch lead free MasterSeries® Reduced Pressure Detector Backflow Preventer Assembly (RPDA) is designed to protect potable water systems against high hazard (toxic) fluids from backpressure and backsiphonage conditions in industrial and other applications. This valve features a longer gate-to-gate length, making it a direct drop-in replacement for competitor N-pattern valves.

The assembly is constructed with a ductile iron body featuring ArmorTek® advanced epoxy coating for enhanced corrosion resistance. It includes replaceable stainless steel check seats and a stainless steel relief valve seat for maximum performance and extended durability. This model comes without shutoff valves, featuring ball valve test cocks and a bypass line with a cubic feet per minute (CFM) water meter.

Flood Detection

  • Includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • When paired with an add-on connection kit, the sensor is activated to relay alerts for potential flooding events to personnel via a multichannel alert (call, email, text).
  • Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor for integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor; without it, the flood sensor is a passive component that does not communicate with any other device.

Main Valve Features

  • Stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Longer gate-to-gate length for drop-in replacement of longer valves.
  • Inline serviceable assembly; no special tools required.
  • Captured modular spring assembly.
  • Reversible and replaceable discs.
  • Field replaceable seats.
  • Ductile iron valve body design.
  • ArmorTek coating technology to resist corrosion of internals.
  • Modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve.
  • Clapper check assembly.
  • Captured O-ring design.

Auxiliary Bypass Features

  • Compact design; remains in main valve assembly profile.
  • Inline serviceable 3/4" check assembly; no special tools required for servicing.
  • Field replaceable seat and disc.

FAQs

What is the primary function of the 10 LF886W-LG-CFM-FS backflow preventer?

This backflow preventer is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage conditions, specifically for high-hazard/toxic applications in industrial and commercial settings.

Is this backflow preventer lead-free?

Yes, this MasterSeries LF886W assembly is constructed with lead-free components. The wetted surface of this product that contacts consumable water contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight, meeting low lead installation requirements.

How does the integrated flood sensor work?

The flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To actively relay alerts, an add-on connection kit is required, enabling communication via BMS, cellular networks, or integration with a BAS system.

What is the significance of the ArmorTek® coating on the ductile iron body?

The ArmorTek® advanced epoxy coating is a patented three-part system applied to the ductile iron components. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal surfaces, enhancing the assembly's durability and lifespan.

What is the maximum operating pressure and temperature range for this device?

This backflow preventer has a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12.1 bar). It is designed to operate continuously within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).
