Primary Use

This 10 inch lead free MasterSeries® reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly is intended for installation on potable water supply lines to protect against backpressure and backsiphonage conditions where high-hazard (toxic) fluids are present, such as in industrial installations and applications.

Compatibility & Installation

  • This valve features a longer lay-length and an N-pattern design, making it suitable as a drop-in replacement for competitor N-pattern valves.
  • End connections are compliant with ASME B16.1 Class 125 and AWWA Class D Flange standards, ensuring compatibility with standard flanged piping systems.

Sensor Connectivity

The integrated SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor is designed to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. For active alerts, it must be paired with an optional add-on connection kit. These kits enable the sensor to relay alerts to various systems, including:

  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Cellular communication networks
  • The Sensor Control Monitor, which integrates with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

Additional Details

This 10 inch lead free MasterSeries® reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly is designed to protect potable water supplies from high-hazard (toxic) fluids in industrial installations and applications. It features a longer lay-length for easy drop-in replacement of competitor’s N-pattern valves.

This N-pattern assembly is supplied without shutoff valves (LG option) and includes a ductile iron body, replaceable stainless steel check seats, a gallons per minute (GPM) metered bypass, and ball valve test cocks. Improved with a stainless-steel relief valve seat and check components, these rugged assemblies offer enhanced dependability and extended valve life. This backflow assembly also contains a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When paired with an add-on connection kit, the sensor activates to relay alerts for potential flooding events through BMS, cellular communication, or Wi-Fi.

FAQs

What is the primary function of this backflow preventer?

This 10 inch lead-free MasterSeries backflow preventer is designed to protect potable water supplies from high-hazard (toxic) fluids caused by backpressure and backsiphonage in industrial installations and applications.

Does this backflow preventer include shutoff valves?

No, this specific model (LG option) is supplied without shutoff valves. This configuration is denoted as 'Less Shutoff Valves' for flexible installation needs.

What type of bypass meter does this assembly feature?

This assembly features a gallons per minute (GPM) metered bypass. This bypass line is designed to help detect potential underground water leaks or unauthorized water usage within the system.

How does the SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor work?

The integrated SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When paired with an optional add-on connection kit, it can relay alerts via BMS, cellular communication, or Wi-Fi to the Nexa platform, providing early warning for potential flooding.

What are the key materials used in this backflow preventer's construction?

The main valve body and relief valve body are made from durable ductile iron grade 65-45-12, coated with ArmorTek powder for internal and external corrosion protection. Key internal components like check seats, relief valve seat, and disc holders are made of stainless steel.
