Help Me Connect
Flood Sensor Connectivity
- The included SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor is designed to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
- To activate its alert features for notification to facility personnel, an add-on connection kit is required. Without this kit, the sensor operates as a passive component.
- Available connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor which integrates with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

Additional Details
This 2 1/2 inch lead free reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to provide cross-connection control protection of the potable water supply. It prevents the reverse flow of polluted water from entering the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and/or backpressure.
It is ideal for protection in continuous pressure piping applications and at cross-connections identified as health hazards and from other contaminants found at the service line entrance.
Key Features
- Features an epoxy coated cast iron body with ArmorTek®, a patented 3-part advanced epoxy coating system engineered to limit both microbial induced corrosion (MIC) and exposed metal substrate corrosion.
- Equipped with non-rising stem resilient seated gate valves, captured spring check valves, replaceable seats, and top mounted test cocks.
- Includes a field reversible pressure differential relief valve with a unique patented air-in and water-out design for high capacity discharge performance during emergency conditions.
- Constructed with Lead Free* materials to comply with installation requirements.
Flood Sensor Technology
- Contains a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
- When paired with an add-on connection kit, the sensor is activated to relay alerts for potential flooding events to facility personnel for corrective action.
- The sensor supports connectivity options including BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor which enables integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

FAQs
What is the primary function of the Watts LF909 Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly?
The primary function is to provide cross-connection control protection of the potable water supply, preventing the reverse flow of polluted water due to backsiphonage and/or backpressure.
What does 'Lead Free' mean for this backflow preventer?
The 'Lead Free' designation indicates that the wetted surfaces of the product, which come into contact with consumable water, contain less than 0.25% lead by weight, complying with Lead Free installation requirements.
How does the SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor work and what is needed to activate it?
The SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate its alert features, an add-on connection kit is required. Without this kit, the sensor is a passive component with no communication capabilities.
What is ArmorTek® coating, and what benefits does it offer?
ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy system applied to the backflow preventer's iron components. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates, extending the product's lifespan.
What are the maximum operating pressure and temperature limits for this assembly?
This backflow preventer has a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12.06 bar). It can operate continuously between 33°F and 110°F (0.5°C to 43°C), with intermittent operation up to 140°F (60°C).
