The Ames Fire & Waterworks 2.5 inch 4000SS-DOSY-FS Reduced Pressure Zone backflow preventer prevents hazardous backflow into potable water systems. Its 300 Series stainless steel construction offers corrosion resistance and is half the weight of traditional designs, simplifying installation. This model includes a SentryPlus Alert flood sensor, detecting relief valve discharge to prevent costly water damage. It features domestic OSY resilient seated gate valves, cam-check valves for maximum flow, and a balanced rolling diaphragm relief valve for low maintenance. Rated for 175 PSI and 33-110°F, it is ASSE 1013, CSA B64.5, UL Classified, and FM Approved.

Flood Sensor Activation & Monitoring

This 2 1/2 inch 4000SS-DOSY-FS backflow preventer includes a flood sensor designed to detect excessive water discharge. To activate and enable flood monitoring, an add-on sensor connection kit is required (sold separately). Once connected, the sensor can integrate with various systems:

  • Building Automation Systems (BAS): Alerts delivered via RS-485 Modbus.
  • Nexa Platform: Alerts delivered via Wi-Fi connectivity using the Sensor Control Monitor.
  • Cellular Communication: Possible with compatible connection kits.

Without an add-on connection kit, the flood sensor acts as a passive component and does not communicate with other devices.

The Ames Fire & Waterworks Series 4000SS Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of contaminated water into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage or backpressure. This 2 1/2 inch stainless steel assembly is ideal for health hazard cross-connection applications and protection from contaminants at the service line entrance.

The 4000SS-DOSY-FS model includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When paired with an add-on connection kit, the sensor activates to relay alerts for potential flooding events.
