Additional Details

The 2 1/2 inch Ames Fire & Waterworks 4000SS Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly is engineered to prevent the reverse flow of contaminated, non-potable water into the potable water supply. It is ideal for health hazard cross-connections and other critical service line entrance applications.

This assembly features a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharge from the relief valve, providing an alert when paired with an add-on connection kit.

Construction & Design

  • Features a short lay length and compact design for easy retrofitting and smaller enclosures.
  • Equipped with domestic flange by groove outside stem and yoke resilient seated gate valves.
  • The cam-check assembly provides maximum flow at low pressure drop.
  • A stainless steel relief valve utilizes a balanced rolling diaphragm to eliminate sliding seals, reducing maintenance.
  • Includes top mounted test cocks for easy maintenance.
  • The stainless steel body is half the weight of competitive designs, reducing installation and shipping costs.

Flood Sensor & Alerts

  • The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects continuous discharge from the relief valve.
  • Requires an add-on sensor connection kit to activate flood monitoring and relay alerts.
  • Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor for integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform via Wi-Fi connectivity.

NOTICE: An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without this kit, the flood sensor is a passive component with no communication to other devices. Watts® is not responsible for alert failures due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.
