Additional Details

This 2 1/2 inch lead free reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is engineered to protect the potable water supply from contamination due to backsiphonage and backpressure of hazardous materials. It is suitable for continuous pressure piping applications and cross-connections identified as health hazards, including those involving fire protection substances.

Key Features

  • Equipped with a flood sensor featuring SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharge from the relief valve.
  • Requires an add-on connection kit (available separately) to activate the flood sensor for BMS, cellular communication, or integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or Nexa® platform via Wi-Fi.
  • Constructed with a lightweight stainless steel body, offering long-term corrosion resistance and maximum strength.
  • Designed with short end-to-end dimensions for easy retrofitting.
  • Features a patented cam-check assembly that provides maximum flow at low pressure drop.
  • Compact modular design allows for smaller enclosures and facilitates easy in-line maintenance with a single access cover.
  • A stainless steel relief valve with a balanced rolling diaphragm eliminates sliding seals and reduces maintenance costs.
  • Internal parts include red silicone rubber internals.
  • Includes test cocks for easy testing and maintenance.
  • This model is supplied less shutoff valves (gates).

NOTICE: An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that has no communication with any other device.

FAQs

What is included with this 2 1/2 inch 4000SS-SR-LG-FS backflow preventer assembly?

This assembly includes the main 2 1/2 inch stainless steel body, test cocks, corrosive-resistant stainless steel relief valve, and a patented cam-check assembly with red silicone rubber internals. It also features a flood sensor but does not include shutoff valves (gates).

How does the flood sensor feature work?

The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate real-time alerts and communication, an add-on connection kit (sold separately) is required. Without the kit, the sensor is passive.

What is the maximum operating pressure and temperature for this backflow preventer?

This 2 1/2 inch backflow preventer is designed for a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12.1 bar). The operational temperature range is 33°F to 110°F (0.5°C to 43°C).

Is this product suitable for potable water systems?

Yes, this 4000SS Series backflow preventer features "Lead Free" construction, meaning the wetted surface contains less than 0.25% lead by weight, making it compliant for use in potable water supply applications in accordance with national codes.

What are the benefits of the stainless steel construction?

The stainless steel construction provides long-term corrosion resistance and maximum strength. It also makes the body half the weight of competitive designs, which can significantly reduce installation and shipping costs.
