Flood Sensor Activation

  • The integral SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor requires an add-on sensor connection kit for activation and communication.
  • Connection kit options include BMS and cellular communication.
  • The Sensor Control Monitor enables integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi connectivity.
  • Without a connection kit, the flood sensor acts as a passive component and will not communicate.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the AMES 5000SS Reduced Pressure Detector Assembly?

The primary purpose is to protect potable water supplies from contamination by preventing the reverse flow (backsiphonage and backpressure) of hazardous materials from non-potable sources like irrigation, fireline, or industrial processing.

Is this backflow preventer suitable for drinking water systems?

No, it is illegal to use this product in any plumbing system providing water for human consumption, such as drinking or dishwashing, in the United States. It is designed for non-potable applications.

How does the flood sensor feature work and what is needed for it?

The integral SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor detects continuous water discharge from the relief valve. To activate its alert function, an add-on sensor connection kit is required, which can integrate with BMS, cellular networks, or the Nexa® platform via Wi-Fi.

What materials are used in the construction of this backflow preventer?

The main valve body and all internal metal parts are made from 300 Series Stainless Steel, providing excellent corrosion resistance. The check assembly uses Noryl® thermoplastic, and the relief valve features stainless steel with a balanced rolling diaphragm.

What are the operating pressure and temperature limits for this device?

This assembly is rated for a Maximum Working Pressure of 175 psi (12.1 bar) and can operate within a temperature range of 33°F to 110°F (0.5°C to 43°C).
