FAQs

What is the primary function of the Watts LF009 Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer?

Its primary function is to prevent polluted water from flowing back into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage or backpressure, protecting the drinking water system from contamination.

What is ArmorTek® coating and what are its benefits?

ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system applied to the cast iron body. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal surfaces, extending the lifespan and reliability of the backflow preventer.

How does the SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor work?

The SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When connected with an optional add-on connection kit, it can relay alerts via BMS, cellular communication, or Wi-Fi to facility personnel, helping to prevent costly water damage.

What type of shutoff valves does this model include?

This specific LF009-NRS model is equipped with non-rising stem resilient seated gate valves, which provide secure and reliable isolation for maintenance or system control.

Is this backflow preventer compliant with lead-free regulations?

Yes, this Watts Series LF009 assembly is constructed with Lead Free* materials, meaning the wetted surfaces that contact consumable water contain less than 0.25% lead by weight, complying with current lead-free installation requirements.
