Description

This 2 1/2 inch FEBCO MasterSeries LF860 Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly is a lead-free backflow preventer designed to protect potable water supplies from high-hazard backpressure and backsiphonage contamination in industrial and commercial applications. It features a robust ductile iron body with ArmorTek advanced epoxy coating for superior corrosion resistance and extended durability. Integrated with OSY shutoff valves, stainless steel check components, and a stainless steel relief valve seat, this assembly ensures reliable performance. The built-in SentryPlus Alert flood sensor detects continuous relief valve discharge, providing early warning for potential flooding when paired with a connection kit. It is ASSE 1013, UL, FM, and IAPMO approved.

Flood Sensor Connectivity

The integrated flood sensor requires an add-on connection kit to activate its alert capabilities for potential flooding events. Connection kit options available separately include:

  • BMS (Building Management System): For integration via RS-485 Modbus.
  • Cellular Communication: For remote alerts.
  • Nexa platform: Via Wi-Fi connectivity.

Main Assembly Connections

The backflow preventer's end connections are compliant to ASME B16.1 Class 125 and AWWA Class D Flange standards.

Additional Details

This 2 1/2 inch lead free MasterSeries LF860 Reduced Pressure Zone assembly is designed to protect potable water systems from backpressure and backsiphonage conditions involving high hazard (toxic) fluids in industrial installations and applications.

It features OSY (Outside Stem and Yoke) shutoff valves and advanced corrosion resistance for extended service life.

Key Features

  • Flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert technology to detect continuous discharge from the relief valve.
  • Includes a stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Ductile iron body construction with patented 3-part ArmorTek advanced epoxy coating system to limit microbial induced (MIC) and exposed metal substrate corrosion.
  • Designed for health hazard applications with lead free construction.
  • Inline serviceable assembly that requires no special tools for maintenance.
  • Features a modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve, along with a captured modular spring assembly, reversible and replaceable discs, and field replaceable seats.
  • Utilizes a clapper check assembly and captured O-ring design.

An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor's alert capabilities. Without it, the flood sensor is a passive component.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the FEBCO LF860 Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly?

This assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage of high hazard (toxic) fluids. It is typically used in industrial installations and applications where local codes mandate such protection.

What material is the main valve body made from, and what kind of coating does it have?

The main valve body is constructed from ductile iron Grade 65-45-12. It features a patented 3-part ArmorTek advanced epoxy coating applied to both internal and external surfaces, which helps to resist microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal.

Does this backflow preventer include a flood sensor, and how does it work?

Yes, it includes a SentryPlus Alert flood sensor integrated with the relief valve. When paired with an add-on connection kit (sold separately), the sensor detects excessive water discharges and can relay alerts via BMS, cellular, or Wi-Fi to notify personnel of potential flooding.

Are special tools required for servicing the FEBCO LF860 assembly?

No, the LF860 is designed as an inline serviceable assembly, meaning that no special tools are required for servicing the pressure differential relief valve or the check modules. This simplifies maintenance procedures.

What are the maximum operating pressure and temperature range for this backflow preventer?

The maximum working pressure for this assembly is 175 psi (12.1 bar). It can operate continuously within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).
