Additional Details

The 2 1/2 inch FEBCO MasterSeries LF866V Lead Free Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Backflow Preventer Assembly is designed to protect potable water systems from backpressure and backsiphonage of high hazard/toxic fluids. This assembly is supplied without shutoff valves and includes a cubic feet per minute (CFM) metered bypass and a flood sensor.

Primary Use

  • Protects against backpressure and backsiphonage in high hazard/toxic applications.
  • Suitable for potable drinking water systems and industrial installations.

Construction & Coating

  • Features a ductile iron body for durability.
  • Coated with ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system, to resist microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal surfaces.
  • Lead Free construction complies with low lead installation requirements.

Main Valve Features

  • Includes stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance.
  • Designed with inline serviceable assembly, requiring no special tools.
  • Features a modular spring assembly and reversible, replaceable discs.
  • Equipped with field replaceable seats.
  • Includes a modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve and clapper check assembly.
  • Features a captured O-ring design.

Bypass Assembly

  • Includes a 5/8 inch x 3/4 inch water meter for totalizing cubic feet per minute (CFM).
  • Designed to detect potential underground water leaks and unauthorized water usage.

Flood Sensor

  • Contains a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology on the relief valve to detect excessive water discharges.
  • An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that does not communicate with any other device.
  • When activated, the sensor can relay signals for multichannel alerts (call, email, text) to notify personnel of potential flooding.
  • Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor for integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the FEBCO MasterSeries LF866V backflow preventer?

Its primary purpose is to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage conditions, especially in high hazard or toxic applications.

Does this backflow preventer include shutoff valves?

No, this specific assembly (Model/Option LG) is supplied without shutoff valves. Shutoff valves would need to be purchased separately if required.

How does the ArmorTek® coating benefit the backflow preventer?

The ArmorTek® coating is a patented three-part advanced epoxy system applied to the ductile iron body. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates, enhancing durability and lifespan.

What is the function of the flood sensor and how is it activated?

The flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve, indicating potential flooding. It requires an add-on connection kit (available separately) to be activated and communicate alerts via BMS, cellular, or Wi-Fi to a monitoring system.

What is the maximum operating pressure and temperature range for this assembly?

The maximum working pressure for this backflow preventer is 175 PSI (12.1 bar). It can operate in a continuous temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).
