Installation & Compatibility

  • This backflow preventer assembly is designed for installation on potable water supply lines to protect against backpressure and backsiphonage in high hazard/toxic applications.
  • The assembly features UL Classified and FM Approved OS&Y shutoff valves for reliable isolation.
  • The auxiliary bypass line includes a 5/8 inch x 3/4 inch water meter (compliant with ANSI/AWWA C700) and an approved check assembly (compliant with AWWA Standard C511) to detect leaks or unauthorized water usage.
  • The integrated flood sensor on the relief valve detects excessive water discharges. To activate and communicate alerts, an add-on connection kit (e.g., BMS, cellular, or Sensor Control Monitor for BAS/Nexa platform via Wi-Fi/RS-485 Modbus) is required.
  • End connections are compliant to ASME B16.1 Class 125 and AWWA Class D Flange standards.

Additional Details

This 2 1/2 inch lead free MasterSeries® LF866V Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly is designed to protect potable water systems against backpressure and backsiphonage conditions for high hazard/toxic applications, typically found in industrial installations.

The assembly is constructed with a ductile iron body and features OSY resilient wedge gate shutoff valves, a cubic feet per minute (CFM) metered bypass, and ball valve test cocks.

Features

  • Lead Free construction to comply with low lead installation requirements.
  • ArmorTek® coating technology: A patented three-part advanced epoxy system applied to internal and external surfaces of iron components, engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate.
  • Stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Inline serviceable assembly: Does not require special tools for servicing.
  • Captured modular spring assembly.
  • Reversible and replaceable discs.
  • Field replaceable seats.
  • Modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve.
  • Clapper check assembly.
  • Captured O-ring design.
  • Flood sensor: Detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve, designed to relay a signal for multichannel alerts.
  • Auxiliary Bypass: Compact design with an inline serviceable 3/4 inch check assembly, designed to detect potential underground water leaks and unauthorized water usage.

An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component and does not communicate with any other device.

The flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including proper drainage in the event of a discharge.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the FEBCO LF866V backflow preventer?

The primary purpose is to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage conditions in high hazard/toxic applications, ensuring compliance with local water utility codes.

What does the "Lead Free" designation mean for this product?

The "Lead Free" designation indicates that the wetted surfaces of this product, which come into contact with consumable water, contain less than 0.25% of lead by weight, complying with low lead installation requirements.

How does the ArmorTek® coating enhance the durability of the assembly?

ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system applied to the internal and external surfaces of the iron components. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates, significantly extending the product's lifespan.

How does the integrated flood sensor function, and what is needed for it to work?

The flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve and relays a signal to trigger multichannel alerts (call, email, text) about potential flooding. To activate the sensor and enable communication, an add-on connection kit is required.

What are the operating pressure and temperature limits for this backflow preventer?

The assembly has a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12.1 bar) and a minimum working pressure of 20 psi (1.4 bar). It can operate continuously within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).
