Description

The FEBCO 2.5 inch Lead-Free MasterSeries LF886V Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly is engineered to safeguard potable water systems from high hazard/toxic backpressure and backsiphonage. This robust assembly features a ductile iron body with ArmorTek® advanced epoxy coating for superior corrosion resistance and extended life. It includes domestic OSY shutoff valves and a bypass assembly with a Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM) meter. An integrated flood sensor detects excessive relief valve discharge, offering an alert system when paired with an add-on connection kit. The LF886V is UL Classified and FM Approved for industrial and commercial applications.

Help Me Connect

Flood Sensor Connectivity

  • To activate the integrated flood sensor and enable alerts, an add-on connection kit is required.
  • Without the connection kit, the flood sensor functions as a passive component.
  • Connection kit options include modules for Building Management Systems (BMS), cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor for integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

Main Connections

  • The main assembly connections are compliant with ASME B16.1 Class 125 and AWWA Class D Flange standards.

Additional Details

The FEBCO 2 1/2 inch LF886V Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly protects potable water systems from backpressure and backsiphonage of high hazard/toxic fluids. It is designed for industrial installations and applications where local governing codes require protection from non-potable water sources.

This lead-free assembly features domestic OSY shutoff valves, a cubic feet per minute (CFM) metered bypass, and an integrated flood sensor.

Key Features

  • Lead-Free Construction: Complies with low lead installation requirements for potable water systems.
  • ArmorTek® Coating: A patented three-part advanced epoxy system applied to internal and external ductile iron components to resist microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate.
  • Main Valve Design: Features stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Flood Sensor: Detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve and relays a signal for multichannel alerts (call, email, text) to notify personnel of potential flooding.
  • Auxiliary Bypass: Includes a 3/4 inch check assembly and a CFM meter to detect potential underground water leaks or unauthorized water usage.
  • Inline Serviceability: Designed for easy maintenance without special tools.

An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that does not communicate with any other device. Use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge. Watts® is not responsible for the failure of alerts due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.

FAQs

What is the primary function of the FEBCO 2.5 LF886V Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly?

This assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from backpressure and backsiphonage of high hazard or toxic fluids, as mandated by local governing water utility codes.

Does this backflow preventer meet lead-free requirements?

Yes, the FEBCO 2.5 LF886V is constructed with lead-free materials. The wetted surface of the product contains less than 0.25% lead by weight, complying with current low lead installation requirements.

What is ArmorTek® coating and why is it important?

ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy system applied to the ductile iron components. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates, enhancing the durability and lifespan of the backflow preventer.

How does the flood sensor function?

The integrated flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When an add-on connection kit is used, the sensor relays a signal to trigger multichannel alerts (call, email, text) to notify personnel about potential flooding events.

What are the maximum operating pressure and temperature limits for this assembly?

This assembly has a maximum working pressure of 175 PSI and can continuously operate within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).
