Description

The 2 1/2 inch FEBCO MasterSeries LF886V Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly protects potable water systems from high hazard backpressure and backsiphonage conditions. Featuring a durable ductile iron body with patented ArmorTek® anti-corrosion coating and lead-free construction, it offers extended service life. The assembly includes domestic OSY shutoff valves, replaceable stainless steel check seats, and a detector bypass assembly (less meter). An integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects relief valve discharges, providing early warning for potential flooding. It is UL Classified, FM Approved, and ASSE 1047 compliant.

Flood Sensor Connectivity

The integrated flood sensor requires an add-on connection kit for activation and communication with external devices. Connection kit options include modules for BMS (Building Management Systems), cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor. The Sensor Control Monitor enables integration with BAS (Building Automation Systems) via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

Additional Details

The 2 1/2 inch FEBCO MasterSeries LF886V Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly is engineered to safeguard potable water systems from high hazard/toxic backpressure and backsiphonage conditions in industrial and other critical applications.

This lead-free assembly features domestic OSY shutoff valves and a robust ductile iron body, protected by the patented ArmorTek® 3-part advanced epoxy coating system to resist microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and exposed metal substrate corrosion.

Flood Detection

  • Equipped with a flood sensor featuring SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • Relays a signal for multichannel alerts (call, email, text) to notify personnel of potential flooding.
  • An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without this kit, the sensor operates as a passive component and will not communicate with other devices.

Main Valve Features

  • Stainless steel relief valve seat and check components ensure maximum performance and durability.
  • Inline serviceable assembly requiring no special tools for maintenance.
  • Features a captured modular spring assembly, reversible and replaceable discs, and field replaceable seats.
  • Modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve with a clapper check assembly and captured O-ring design.

Auxiliary Bypass Features (Less Meter)

  • Compact design that remains within the main valve assembly profile.
  • Inline serviceable 3/4" check assembly with field replaceable seat and disc.
  • Designed to detect potential underground water leaks and unauthorized water usage.

FAQs

What is the primary use of the FEBCO LF886V Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly?

It is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from backpressure and backsiphonage conditions in high hazard/toxic applications, adhering to local governing water utility codes.

What material is the body made of, and how is it protected from corrosion?

The main valve body and relief valve body are made of Ductile Iron Grade 65-45-12. They are protected by ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate.

Does this backflow preventer come with shutoff valves?

Yes, this assembly comes with domestic OSY (Outside Stem & Yoke) resilient wedge gate valves, which are UL Classified and FM Approved.

How does the flood sensor function, and what is needed to activate it?

The flood sensor uses SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate the sensor and enable alert notifications, an add-on connection kit (e.g., for BMS, cellular, or Wi-Fi via Sensor Control Monitor) is required.

What are the key pressure and temperature ratings for this assembly?

It has a maximum working pressure of 175 PSI (12.1 bar) and a minimum working pressure of 20 PSI (1.4 bar). The hydrostatic test pressure is 350 PSI, and it operates continuously within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F.
