Additional Details

This 2 inch FEBCO Series 860 Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly is designed to protect potable water supplies from high-hazard cross-connections. It prevents the reverse flow of toxic fluids into the drinking water system due to backsiphonage or backpressure, adhering to national plumbing codes and water authority requirements for non-potable service applications.

The assembly is suitable for use in industrial plants, hospitals, morgues, mortuaries, chemical plants, irrigation systems, boiler feed lines, and other installations requiring maximum protection.

WARNING: It is illegal to use this product in any plumbing system providing water for human consumption, such as drinking or dishwashing, in the United States. Always consult your local water authority, building, and plumbing codes before installation.

Construction & Operation

  • Features a bronze body with top entry access for easy maintenance.
  • Consists of two independently operating, spring-loaded check valves and a pressure differential relief valve located between them.
  • The relief valve includes a hydraulically balanced diaphragm, designed to remain closed during normal operation and open under reduced pressure.
  • Includes a flood sensor on the exterior of the relief valve to detect excessive water discharges. This sensor relays a signal for notification to facility personnel, helping to limit flooding and damage.
  • An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor's communication features with BMS or cellular systems. Without the kit, the sensor is passive.

Features

  • Equipped with threaded quarter-turn ball valves featuring union connections for isolation and ease of installation.
  • Shutoff valve handles are removable to discourage tampering.
  • Contains replaceable seats and discs for simplified servicing.
  • Includes top-mounted test cocks for convenient testing and maintenance.
  • Internal components include stainless steel springs, silicone elastomers, and Noryl® seats.
