Description

The 2 inch FEBCO LF860U-FS Lead Free Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) backflow preventer assembly protects potable water systems from high-hazard contamination. It prevents reverse flow caused by backsiphonage or backpressure in applications such as industrial plants, hospitals, and irrigation systems. Constructed with a Lead Free* cast copper silicon alloy body, this assembly includes union ball valves with quarter-turn shutoff and a SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor. The sensor detects excessive relief valve discharge, relaying alerts when paired with an add-on connection kit. It is rated for 175 psi maximum working pressure and 32°F to 140°F temperature, conforming to ASSE 1013, CSA B64.4, NSF/ANSI 61-G, and AWWA C511 standards.

Help Me Connect

Connections

  • This assembly includes threaded quarter-turn ball valves with union connections for straightforward installation into your piping system.
  • Ensure proper sizing by matching the 2 inch nominal pipe size of this backflow preventer to your existing plumbing.

Flood Sensor Activation

The integrated flood sensor is a passive component until an add-on connection kit is installed. To activate flood alerts and communication, you will need to purchase a separate connection kit. Options for connection kits include those compatible with Building Management Systems (BMS), cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor which integrates with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform via Wi-Fi.

Notice: Use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge.

FAQs

What is the primary function of the FEBCO LF860U-FS backflow preventer?

The primary function is to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination by preventing the reverse flow of high hazard (toxic) fluids caused by backsiphonage or backpressure conditions. It ensures the safety of your water supply.

What does 'Lead Free' mean for this product?

'Lead Free' indicates that the wetted surface of this product contacted by consumable water contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight, complying with modern installation requirements for potable water systems.

How does the SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor work?

The flood sensor is installed on the relief valve to detect continuous water discharges. When paired with an add-on connection kit (sold separately), it activates to relay alerts to facility personnel or building management systems (BMS), cellular devices, or the Nexa® platform via Wi-Fi, helping to prevent flooding and costly damage.

What are the maximum operating pressure and temperature ratings for this assembly?

This 2 inch backflow preventer has a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12.1 bar) and can operate within a temperature range of 32°F to 140°F (0°C to 60°C).

Is this backflow preventer assembly serviceable?

Yes, the FEBCO LF860U-FS is designed as an inline serviceable assembly, which means it can be maintained without requiring special tools, simplifying upkeep and reducing downtime.
