Description

This 3/4 inch Watts SS009M3-QT-FS reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly safeguards potable water from pollution caused by backsiphonage or backpressure. Constructed from investment cast 316 stainless steel, it offers superior corrosion resistance for demanding applications in industrial plants, medical facilities, and aggressive atmospheres. Key features include NPT connections, quarter-turn ball valve shutoffs, and a hydraulically operated differential pressure relief valve. The assembly is Lead Free* and meets national plumbing codes and water authority requirements, including ASSE 1013 and CSA B64.4. It is rated for 175 PSI maximum working pressure and 33°F to 180°F continuous temperature. A SentryPlus Alert flood sensor detects relief valve discharges, requiring an add-on kit for active notifications.

Connections

  • This assembly features NPT inlet and outlet connections for direct plumbing integration.
  • The quarter-turn ball valve shutoffs utilize 304 stainless steel tee handles for ease of operation.

Flood Sensor Activation

The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert technology requires an add-on connection kit to become active and send alerts. Without this kit, the sensor functions as a passive component with no external communication. Add-on connection kits are available for both BMS and cellular communication systems.

Additional Details

This 3/4 inch stainless steel reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the flow of polluted water from entering into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and/or backpressure. It provides protection of the potable water supply in accordance with national plumbing codes and water authority requirements, making it ideal for health hazard installations where downstream liquid may damage bronze or require elimination of lead and copper trace elements.

Applications

  • Ideal for health hazard installations where downstream liquid may damage bronze materials or where eliminating trace elements of lead and copper is desirable.
  • Suitable for industrial or plant use, medical/diagnostic equipment, reverse osmosis systems, carbonated beverage machines, breweries/distillers, paper and pulp industries, chemical plants, and aggressive atmospheres.

Features

  • Features two in-line independent check valves, captured springs, replaceable check seats, and corrosion resistant internal parts.
  • Includes a hydraulically operated differential pressure relief valve for reduced installation clearances.
  • Constructed with NPT body connections and vandal resistant Test Cocks.
  • Furnished with investment cast 316 stainless steel, full port, and quarter-turn ball valve shutoffs with 304 stainless steel tee handles.
  • Bolted on, top entry single access cover for ease of maintenance.
  • Modular check construction with non-reversible checks.
  • Top-mounted, vandal-resistant test cocks provide easy access for testing.
  • True line sized check modules open further to reduce fouling problems.
  • Check and relief valve seats are replaceable without special tools.
  • Internal relief valve is suitable for right and left hand installations.

Flood Sensor

  • Includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • The sensor, when activated with an add-on connection kit, can send an alert to notify users of potential flooding.
  • An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the sensor is a passive component that has no communication with any any other device. Watts is not responsible for alert failures due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.
