Description

This 3 inch lead-free reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly (RPZA) with OSY shutoffs prevents the reverse flow of non-potable water and fire protection substances into potable water supplies. Featuring a lightweight 300 Series stainless steel body and a compact design, it is ideal for continuous pressure piping applications and health hazard cross-connections. An integrated SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor detects excessive relief valve discharge, with options for connecting to BMS, cellular, or Wi-Fi monitoring systems. Its modular construction allows for easy in-line maintenance and maximum flow at low pressure drop.

Help Me Connect

Connections

  • This 3 inch backflow preventer assembly features flanged end connections, designed in accordance with AWWA Class D standards for reliable integration into piping systems.

Sensor Connectivity

  • The integrated SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor can be enhanced with an add-on connection kit. These kits allow integration with Building Management Systems (BMS), cellular communication networks, or the Sensor Control Monitor.
  • The Sensor Control Monitor further enables connectivity to Building Automation Systems (BAS) via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi, providing remote monitoring and alerts.

Additional Details

This 3 inch lead free reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of fire protection substances and non-potable quality water from being pumped or siphoned into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and/or backpressure.

Its compact modular design facilitates easy maintenance with a single access cover for in-line repairs. It is ideal for protection in continuous pressure piping applications and at cross-connections identified as health hazards, and from other contaminants found at the service line entrance.

Key Components

  • Short lay length lightweight stainless steel body, reducing installation and shipping costs
  • Resilient seated outside stem and yoke (OSY) shutoff valves
  • Test cocks for easy diagnostics
  • Corrosive resistant stainless steel bottom mounted relief valve with balanced rolling diaphragm for lower maintenance costs
  • Patented cam-check assembly providing maximum flow at low pressure drop

Flood Detection & Monitoring

  • Contains a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • When paired with an add-on connection kit, the sensor relays alerts for potential flooding events.
  • Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor which enables integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of this 3 inch backflow preventer?

This assembly prevents the reverse flow of non-potable water and fire protection substances into the potable water supply, protecting against contamination from backsiphonage and backpressure.

What material is the main body of the backflow preventer made from?

The main body is constructed from lightweight 300 Series stainless steel, which reduces installation and shipping costs while providing corrosion resistance.

How does the integrated SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor work?

The flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When paired with an add-on connection kit, it relays alerts for potential flooding events to monitoring systems.

What connection options are available for the flood sensor?

The sensor can connect to Building Management Systems (BMS), cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor, which integrates with Building Automation Systems (BAS) via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform via Wi-Fi.

What are the temperature and pressure ratings for this assembly?

This backflow preventer operates effectively within a temperature range of 33°F to 110°F (0.5°C to 43°C) and can withstand a maximum working pressure of 175 PSI (12.1 bar).
