Additional Details
This 3 inch Lead Free Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly is designed to protect potable water supplies from contamination caused by backsiphonage or backpressure.
It is ideal for continuous pressure piping applications and critical cross-connections where health hazards are identified, ensuring maximum protection for water systems.
Features
- Flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert technology to detect continuous relief valve discharge.
- Flood alerts are activated with an add-on sensor connection kit, compatible with BMS, cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor for BAS via RS-485 Modbus or Nexa platform by Wi-Fi.
- Single access cover and modular check construction for ease of maintenance.
- Top entry to all internals for immediate accessibility.
- Captured springs for safe maintenance.
- Internal relief valve for reduced installation clearances.
- Replaceable seats for economical repair.
- Non-rising stem resilient seated gate valves for shutoff control.
- Large body passages provide low pressure drop.
- Compact, space-saving design requiring no special tools for servicing.
Construction & Design
- Lead Free* cast iron body construction with patented ArmorTek® 3-part advanced epoxy coating system to resist microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate.
- FDA epoxy coated strainer for durability and compliance.
- Features two in-line, independent check valves, captured springs, and replaceable check seats with an intermediate relief valve.
- Relief valve with stainless steel seat and trim.
- Includes top mounted test cocks.
An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the sensor is a passive component with no communication.

FAQs
What is a Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) assembly used for?
A Reduced Pressure Zone assembly like the LF009 is designed to protect potable water supplies from contamination by preventing backflow due to backsiphonage or backpressure from polluted sources.
What does "Lead Free*" construction mean?
"Lead Free*" means the wetted surface of this product, which contacts consumable water, contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight, complying with Lead Free installation requirements.
How does the flood sensor work?
The integrated SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor detects continuous water discharges from the relief valve. When paired with an add-on connection kit, it can relay alerts to facility personnel via BMS, cellular communication, or the Nexa® platform.
What type of connections does this 3-inch LF009 assembly have?
This 3-inch Watts LF009-NRS-S-FDA-FS assembly features flanged connections for integration into your water piping system.
What is ArmorTek® coating?
ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system applied to the cast iron body. It is engineered to resist microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate from corrosion.
