Description

This 3 inch FEBCO MasterSeries LF860 Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly is designed to protect potable water systems from high hazard (toxic) backpressure and backsiphonage. Featuring lead-free ductile iron construction with a protective ArmorTek® epoxy coating, it offers enhanced corrosion resistance and durability. The assembly includes OSY shutoff valves and a SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor to detect continuous relief valve discharge, enhancing system monitoring. It is ASSE 1013, UL, FM, IAPMO, AWWA C511, CSA B64.4, and NSF 61-G approved, ensuring compliance and reliability for industrial and commercial applications.

Help Me Connect

Flood Sensor Activation

  • The integrated flood sensor requires an add-on connection kit (sold separately) to activate its alert capabilities.
  • Without the connection kit, the flood sensor acts as a passive component and does not communicate with other devices.
  • Available connection kit options include interfaces for BMS (Building Management Systems), cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor, which allows integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

Assembly Connections

  • This assembly features end connections compliant with ASME B16.1 Class 125 and AWWA Class D Flange standards.

Additional Details

This 3 inch lead free MasterSeries® LF860 Reduced Pressure Zone assembly is designed to protect against backpressure and backsiphonage conditions for high hazard/toxic fluids in potable water systems, particularly for industrial installations. It is used primarily where Local Governing Code mandates protection from non-potable quality water being pumped or siphoned back into the potable water system.

Design & Materials

  • Features a ductile iron valve body (Grade 65-45-12) coated with ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate.
  • Includes a pressure differential relief valve located in a zone between two independently acting approved clapper style check modules with replaceable seats and disc rubbers.
  • Utilizes stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Equipped with top mounted test cocks.

Shutoff Valves

  • This assembly includes OSY (Outside Stem and Yoke) resilient wedge gate shutoff valves, which are UL Classified and FM Approved (AWWA C515 compliant).

Flood Detection

  • A flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology is integrated to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • When activated by an add-on connection kit (sold separately), the sensor relays a signal to trigger multichannel alerts (call, email, text) to notify personnel about potential flooding.
  • Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor which enables integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

Use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the FEBCO MasterSeries LF860 backflow preventer?

Its primary purpose is to protect potable water systems from contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage of high hazard (toxic) fluids, complying with local water utility codes.

Is this backflow preventer assembly lead-free?

Yes, the FEBCO MasterSeries LF860 features lead-free construction, meaning the wetted surface contains less than 0.25% lead by weight, in compliance with low lead installation requirements.

What kind of shutoff valves are included with this assembly?

This particular assembly includes OSY (Outside Stem and Yoke) resilient wedge gate shutoff valves, which are UL Classified and FM Approved, and compliant with AWWA C515 standards.

How does the integrated flood sensor work?

The SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate its alert function, an add-on connection kit (sold separately) is required, which can relay signals via BMS, cellular, or Wi-Fi through the Sensor Control Monitor.

What is ArmorTek® coating, and why is it used?

ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system applied to the ductile iron body. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate, enhancing the durability and lifespan of the backflow preventer.
