Description

The FEBCO 3 inch lead free MasterSeries Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly (LF866V) provides critical protection against backpressure and backsiphonage in high hazard/toxic applications for potable water systems. Its durable ductile iron body features ArmorTek advanced epoxy coating for superior corrosion resistance. This assembly includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert technology for detecting excessive relief valve discharge. Designed for maximum performance, it incorporates stainless steel relief valve seats and check components, alongside UL Classified and FM Approved OS&Y shutoff valves. Item number F683187.

Help Me Connect

Flood Sensor Activation

  • The integrated flood sensor is designed to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • To activate its alert functionality, an add-on connection kit is required. Without this kit, the sensor remains a passive component and does not communicate with other devices.
  • Connection kit options include those for BMS (Building Management System), cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor, which allows integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

Bypass Assembly Connections

  • The auxiliary bypass line is designed for connections that detect potential underground water leaks and unauthorized water usage.

Additional Details

This 3 inch lead free MasterSeries® LF866 Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly protects potable drinking water systems from backpressure and backsiphonage in high hazard/toxic applications, adhering to Local Governing Water Utility Codes.

Construction & Design

  • Features a robust ductile iron valve body design.
  • The valve body and relief valve body are coated with ArmorTek® powder coating, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system designed to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates.
  • Equipped with stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Includes OS&Y resilient wedge gate shutoff valves (UL Classified and FM Approved) and stainless steel check seats, relief valve seat, and disc holder.
  • Inline serviceable assembly and bypass; no special tools required for servicing.
  • Features modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve, clapper check assembly, and captured O-ring design.

Flood Detection & Monitoring

  • Incorporates a flood sensor on the relief valve to detect excessive water discharges.
  • When paired with an add-on connection kit, the sensor activates to relay signals for potential flooding via multichannel alerts (call, email, text).
  • The auxiliary bypass line includes a water meter to detect potential underground water leaks and unauthorized water usage.

An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that does not communicate with any other device. This flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge.

FAQs

What is the primary application for the FEBCO LF866V Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly?

This assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from backpressure and backsiphonage conditions in high hazard/toxic applications, such as industrial installations, as mandated by Local Governing Water Utility Codes.

What is ArmorTek® coating and why is it important?

ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system applied to the ductile iron components. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates, enhancing the longevity and reliability of the backflow preventer.

How does the flood sensor function in this assembly?

The flood sensor on the relief valve detects excessive water discharges. When activated by an add-on connection kit, it relays signals (call, email, text) to notify personnel about potential flooding events. Without the kit, the sensor is passive.

What are the maximum operating pressure and temperature limits for this device?

The maximum working pressure for this assembly is 175 psi (12.1 bar). It can operate within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).

Are special tools required for servicing this backflow preventer?

No, both the main valve assembly and the auxiliary bypass line are designed to be inline serviceable, meaning no special tools are required for maintenance.
