Description

This 3 inch Lead Free FEBCO MasterSeries® reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly protects potable water supplies from high-hazard contaminants caused by backpressure or backsiphonage. It features a durable ductile iron body with a patented ArmorTek® advanced epoxy coating for superior corrosion resistance and extended life. Stainless steel internal components ensure reliable performance. An integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive relief valve discharge (requires an add-on connection kit for active alerts). The assembly includes a cubic feet per minute (CFM) metered bypass to monitor for leaks. Item number F683157.

Help Me Connect

This 3 inch lead free backflow preventer assembly is designed for installation on potable water supplies at each point of cross-connection in industrial and high-hazard applications. The main line connections are compliant to ASME B16.1 Class 125 and AWWA Class D Flange standards.

The auxiliary bypass line features a 5/8" x 3/4" water meter for connection. For the integrated flood sensor to actively relay alerts about excessive water discharge, an add-on connection kit is required. Kit options include those for BMS, cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor, enabling integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

Additional Details

This 3 inch lead free MasterSeries® reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems against backpressure and backsiphonage conditions from high hazard/toxic fluids. It is primarily used in water services to industrial installations and applications where local governing codes mandate protection from non-potable quality water being pumped or siphoned back into the potable system.

Construction & Durability

  • Features a robust ductile iron main valve body and relief valve body, Grade 65-45-12.
  • Equipped with stainless steel check components and a stainless steel relief valve seat for maximum performance and extended valve life.
  • Replaceable stainless steel check seats facilitate easy maintenance.
  • This assembly is supplied without shutoff valves, but includes ball valve test cocks.

Corrosion Resistance

  • Utilizes ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system applied to internal and external surfaces.
  • Engineered to reduce both microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and general corrosion of exposed metal substrate.

Flood Detection & Bypass

  • Includes an integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • The flood sensor requires an add-on connection kit to activate and relay alerts for potential flooding events. Without this kit, the sensor functions as a passive component.
  • Features a cubic feet per minute (CFM) metered bypass to detect potential underground water leaks or unauthorized water usage.

Important Safety Notice: The integrated flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including ensuring proper drainage in the event of a discharge.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of this backflow preventer?

This 3 inch Lead Free MasterSeries® reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage of high hazard/toxic fluids.

Does this assembly include shutoff valves?

No, this specific assembly is supplied without shutoff valves. It does, however, include ball valve test cocks for maintenance and testing.

How does the ArmorTek® coating benefit the product?

The ArmorTek® coating is a patented three-part advanced epoxy system applied to both internal and external surfaces. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates, extending the product's lifespan.

How does the flood sensor feature work?

The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate the sensor for real-time alerts (call, email, text), an add-on connection kit (e.g., BMS or cellular) is required.

What are the material specifications for this backflow preventer?

The main valve body and relief valve body are constructed from durable ductile iron Grade 65-45-12. Internal components like check seats, relief valve seat, disc holders, and springs are made of stainless steel, and elastomer discs are silicone.
