Connections

  • The 3 inch LF909 Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly with OSY shutoff valves is designed for installation in potable water supply lines to prevent backflow.
  • This NYC version includes pre-drilled 304SS bolts and nuts, designed to facilitate secure flange connections.
  • The integrated flood sensor requires an add-on connection kit (sold separately) for activation, enabling communication via BMS, cellular networks, or the Sensor Control Monitor for BAS/Nexa® platform integration.

Additional Details

This 3 inch Lead Free reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of polluted water from entering into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and backpressure.

Construction & Materials

  • Features an epoxy coated cast iron body and OSY (Outside Stem and Yoke) resilient seated gate valves.
  • Includes captured spring check valves, replaceable seats, and top mounted test cocks.
  • The pressure differential relief valve is field reversible.
  • The coating system, ArmorTek®, is a patented 3-part advanced epoxy coating engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates.
  • This NYC version comes with four sets of 304SS bolts/nuts, each with a 1/4 inch hole drilled axially through the bolt.

Flood Detection & Alerts

  • Equipped with a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • The sensor relays a signal to facility personnel for corrective action, helping to limit flooding and costly damage.
  • Flood alerts are activated with an add-on sensor connection kit (sold separately), compatible with BMS, cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor for integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform via Wi-Fi.

An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the sensor is a passive component with no communication to other devices.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the Watts LF909-OSY Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly?

The primary purpose is to protect potable water supplies from contamination caused by backsiphonage and backpressure, ensuring the safety of the drinking water system.

What does "Lead Free" mean for this backflow preventer?

"Lead Free" means that the wetted surfaces of this product that come into contact with consumable water contain less than 0.25% lead by weight, complying with Lead Free installation requirements.

How does the flood sensor feature work and what is required to activate it?

The flood sensor uses SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharge from the relief valve. To activate its alert capabilities, an add-on sensor connection kit (sold separately) is required. Without the kit, the sensor is passive.

What type of shutoff valves are included with this assembly?

This assembly includes OSY (Outside Stem and Yoke) resilient seated gate valves, which allow for visual confirmation of the valve's open or closed position.

What is ArmorTek® coating and what are its benefits?

ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system applied to the cast iron body. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates, enhancing the longevity and reliability of the backflow preventer.
