Description

This 4 inch Ames Fire & Waterworks Series 4000SS Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) backflow preventer safeguards potable water from contamination by preventing backflow from health-hazard cross-connections. Featuring a durable 300 Series stainless steel body and internal parts, it offers superior corrosion resistance and is lighter than comparable units. It includes domestic non-rising stem (NRS) gate valves and an integrated SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor for proactive discharge detection. Rated for 175 psi maximum working pressure and approved by ASSE 1013 and CSA B64.5, this assembly provides reliable, code-compliant water system protection.

Flood Sensor Activation & Connectivity

The integrated SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor requires an add-on connection kit (sold separately) to be fully activated and enable communication for alerts.

  • For Building Management Systems (BMS) or cellular network communication, specific connection kits are available.
  • For integration with Building Automation Systems (BAS), the Sensor Control Monitor enables connectivity via RS-485 Modbus or through the Nexa® platform by Wi-Fi connectivity.

Additional Details

This 4 inch Ames Fire & Waterworks Series 4000SS Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) backflow preventer assembly is designed to protect potable water supplies from contamination due to backsiphonage and backpressure.

It is ideal for health-hazard cross-connections, preventing the reverse flow of non-potable water into the drinking water system in accordance with national codes.

Key Features

  • Stainless steel body construction provides long-term corrosion resistance and maximum strength, while being half the weight of competitive designs to reduce installation and shipping costs.
  • Features domestic non-rising stem resilient seated gate valves (NRS).
  • Includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • An add-on connection kit (sold separately) is required to activate the flood sensor, enabling alerts for potential flooding events via BMS, cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor (BAS via RS-485 Modbus or Nexa® platform via Wi-Fi).
  • Patented cam-check assembly provides maximum flow at low pressure drop.
  • Compact construction and short end-to-end dimensions make retrofitting easy and allow for smaller enclosures.
  • Stainless steel relief valve features a balanced rolling diaphragm to eliminate sliding seals and lower maintenance costs.
  • No special tools are required for servicing.
  • Includes a single access cover for internal part accessibility and four ball type test cocks.
