Additional Details

This 4 inch Ames Series 4000SS Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) backflow preventer assembly is designed to protect potable water supplies from health-hazard cross-connections. It effectively prevents the reverse flow of contaminated water due to backsiphonage or backpressure.

This assembly features Lead Free* construction and includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve, providing an early warning for potential flooding.

Features

  • Stainless steel construction provides long-term corrosion resistance and maximum strength.
  • The stainless steel body is half the weight of competitive designs, reducing installation and shipping costs.
  • Short end-to-end dimensions make retrofitting easy.
  • Cam-check assembly provides maximum flow at low pressure drop.
  • No special tools required for servicing.
  • Compact construction allows for smaller enclosures.
  • Stainless steel relief valve features a balanced rolling diaphragm to eliminate sliding seals and lower maintenance costs.
  • Includes a sensor on the relief valve for flood detection.
  • Flood alert feature is activated with an add-on sensor connection kit, compatible with BMS and cellular network communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor for BAS integration via RS-485 Modbus or Nexa® Wi-Fi platform.
  • Uses domestic outside stem and yoke (OSY) resilient seated gate valves.
  • Equipped with top mounted test cocks.

Notice: An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that has no communication with any other device.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of this backflow preventer assembly?

This backflow preventer assembly is designed to protect potable water supplies from contamination by preventing the reverse flow of hazardous materials into the drinking water system due to backsiphonage or backpressure.

What is the function of the integrated flood sensor?

The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When connected with an add-on kit, it can relay signals to notify facility personnel of potential flooding events, helping to prevent costly damage.

Is an additional connection kit required for the flood sensor?

Yes, an add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor's alert features. Without it, the flood sensor functions as a passive component with no communication capabilities.

What materials are used in the construction of this backflow preventer?

The main valve body and all internal metal parts are constructed from 300 Series stainless steel for corrosion resistance. The check assembly uses Noryl® thermoplastic.

What are the maximum operating pressure and temperature limits for this assembly?

This 4 inch backflow preventer has a maximum working pressure of 175 PSI (12.1 bar) and operates effectively within a temperature range of 33°F to 110°F (0.5°C to 43°C).
