Connection and Setup Guidance

  • This assembly is designed with flanged connections in accordance with AWWA Class D.
  • An add-on sensor connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor's communication features. Without this kit, the flood sensor operates as a passive component.
  • A retrofit sensor connection kit is available for existing installations if needed.
  • The flood alert feature, once activated, is compatible with Building Management Systems (BMS) and cellular network communication.
  • Watts recommends installing a drain line and the required 994AGK-P air gap for proper drain line installation to manage discharge in the event of a flood.

Additional Details

The 4 inch Watts Series 994RPDA Reduced Pressure Detector Assembly Backflow Preventer is designed for health hazard applications to prevent the reverse flow of liquids due to backpressure or backsiphonage into the potable water supply. This assembly includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.

This compact modular design features a short lay length stainless steel body and is assembled without shutoff valves, facilitating easy maintenance with a single access cover for in-line repairs.

Features

  • Stainless steel construction provides long term corrosion resistance and maximum strength.
  • Stainless steel body is half the weight of competitive designs, reducing installation and shipping costs.
  • Short end-to-end dimensions make retrofit easy.
  • Bottom mounted relief valve reduces clearance requirements when installed against an outside wall.
  • Torsion spring check valves provide maximum flow at low pressure drop.
  • Thermoplastic and stainless steel check valves for trouble-free operation.
  • No special tools required for servicing.
  • Compact construction allows for smaller enclosures.
  • Stainless steel relief valve features a balanced rolling diaphragm to eliminate sliding seals and lower maintenance costs.
  • Detects underground leaks and unauthorized water use.
  • Cubic foot per minute (CFM) meter included.
  • Flood sensor on relief valve for flood detection.
  • Flood alert feature activated with add-on sensor connection kit, compatible with BMS and cellular network communication.

An add-on sensor connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor's communication features; without it, the sensor is passive. Watts is not responsible for alert failures due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.
