Additional Details

This 4 inch Lead Free MasterSeries® LF860 Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly is designed to protect potable water systems from high hazard (toxic) fluids due to backpressure and backsiphonage conditions in industrial installations and other applications.

The assembly includes domestic Outside Stem and Yoke (OSY) resilient seated gate valves and an integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.

Construction & Features

  • Constructed with an epoxy coated ductile iron body.
  • Features ArmorTek® coating technology, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system, applied to internal and external surfaces for superior resistance against microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protection of exposed metal substrate.
  • Utilizes a stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance, durability, and extended valve life.
  • Designed for inline serviceability without requiring special tools.
  • Includes captured modular spring assembly, reversible and replaceable discs, and field replaceable seats.
  • The flood sensor, when paired with an add-on connection kit, activates to relay alerts for potential flooding events. Connection kit options enable integration with Building Automation Systems (BAS) via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi, as well as cellular communication.

NOTICE: An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that does not communicate with any other device. The use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge.

FAQs

What is the primary function of this backflow preventer assembly?

This 4 inch Lead Free Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly is designed to protect potable water systems from contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage conditions caused by high hazard (toxic) fluids.

What are the key materials used in its construction?

The main valve body and relief valve body are made from ductile iron Grade 65-45-12, coated with ArmorTek® advanced epoxy for corrosion resistance. Key components like the relief valve seat, check components, disc holder, and springs are made of stainless steel, while the elastomer discs are silicone.

How does the integrated flood sensor work?

The flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When connected with an optional add-on kit, it can relay alerts via BMS, cellular communication, or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi to notify personnel of potential flooding.

Are special tools required for servicing this assembly?

No, this backflow preventer assembly is designed for inline serviceability and does not require any special tools for servicing its internal components, including the pressure differential relief valve and check modules.

Is this backflow preventer compliant with lead-free requirements?

Yes, this MasterSeries® LF860 assembly features Lead Free construction, meaning the wetted surface contacted by consumable water contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight, complying with low lead installation requirements.
