Installation & Connections

This 4 inch MasterSeries® LF866 Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly is designed for installation on potable water supply lines at points of cross-connection. Its end connections are compliant with ASME B16.1 Class 125 and AWWA Class D Flange standards. This ensures compatibility with standard flanged pipe connections suitable for these specifications. The flood sensor functionality requires an add-on connection kit to activate communication for alerts.

Additional Details

This 4 inch lead free MasterSeries® LF866 Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly (RPZDA) is designed to protect potable water systems from high hazard (toxic) backpressure and backsiphonage conditions in industrial installations and applications. It features a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.

Construction & Coating

  • Main valve body and relief valve body are made from Ductile iron Grade 65-45-12.
  • All iron components are coated with ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system, providing integrated protection against microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and exposed metal substrate corrosion.
  • Lead Free construction complies with low lead installation requirements.

Main Valve Features

  • Stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components ensure maximum performance and durability.
  • Inline serviceable assembly, requiring no special tools.
  • Captured modular spring assembly.
  • Reversible and replaceable discs.
  • Field replaceable seats.
  • Ductile iron valve body design.
  • Modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve.
  • Clapper check assembly.
  • Captured O-ring design.

Bypass Assembly

  • Includes a 5/8" x 3/4" water meter for detecting potential underground water leaks and unauthorized water usage.
  • Cubic feet per minute (CFM) metering.
  • Inline serviceable 3/4" check assembly; no special tools required.
  • Field replaceable seat and disc.

Flood Sensor

  • Equipped with a sensor on the relief valve for flood detection.
  • Activated by an add-on connection kit for BMS or cellular network communication, or integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

NOTICE: An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor for communication. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component.

NOTICE: Use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge. Watts® is not responsible for the failure of alerts due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.

FAQs

What is the primary use of the FEBCO MasterSeries LF866 backflow preventer?

It is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from backpressure and backsiphonage, especially in high hazard or toxic applications in industrial installations, ensuring water quality.

What is ArmorTek® coating, and what are its benefits?

ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system applied to the iron components. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates, extending the backflow preventer's lifespan.

Does this assembly include a flood sensor? How does it work?

Yes, it includes a SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor on the relief valve to detect excessive water discharges. To activate communication for alerts (call, email, text), an add-on connection kit is required.

What type of bypass meter is included, and what is its purpose?

It includes a 5/8" x 3/4" water meter that measures in cubic feet per minute (CFM). This bypass meter helps detect potential underground water leaks or unauthorized water usage in the system.

What are the maximum operating pressure and temperature ratings for this backflow preventer?

The maximum working pressure is 175 psi (12.1 bar), and it can operate continuously in a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).
