Description

The 4 inch FEBCO MasterSeries LF866 Lead Free Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly is engineered to protect potable water systems from high hazard backpressure and backsiphonage. Featuring a durable ductile iron body with ArmorTek advanced epoxy coating for superior corrosion resistance and a stainless steel relief valve seat, this assembly ensures long-term reliability. It includes a GPM metered bypass to detect leaks and unauthorized water usage, plus an integral flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert technology for discharge monitoring. UL Classified and FM Approved, it meets stringent industry standards for crucial water system protection.

Connections

  • The assembly is designed for horizontal flow orientation in potable water supply lines.
  • End connections are compliant to ASME B16.1 Class 125 and AWWA Class D Flange standards.
  • To activate the integral flood sensor for remote alerts, an add-on connection kit (e.g., for BMS or cellular network communication) is required; without it, the sensor functions passively.
  • Ensure proper drainage is provided to accommodate potential discharge events from the relief valve.

Additional Details

This 4 inch FEBCO MasterSeries® LF866 Lead Free Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly is designed to protect potable water systems from high hazard (toxic) backpressure and backsiphonage conditions in industrial and other applications.

The assembly includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology for enhanced monitoring.

Construction & Durability

  • Features a robust ductile iron body construction (Grade 65-45-12) for both the main valve and relief valve.
  • Equipped with ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system that resists microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protects exposed metal surfaces both internally and externally.
  • Lead Free construction ensures compliance with low lead installation requirements, with wetted surfaces containing less than 0.25% lead by weight.
  • Stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components ensure maximum performance and durability.
  • Reversible and replaceable discs and field replaceable seats simplify maintenance.

Flood Detection & Monitoring

  • Includes a flood sensor on the relief valve to detect excessive water discharges.
  • Utilizes SentryPlus Alert® technology to relay signals for potential flooding.
  • An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor for communication; without it, the sensor is passive.

Bypass Assembly

  • Detector bypass assembly includes a gallons per minute (GPM) water meter.
  • Designed to detect potential underground water leaks and unauthorized water usage.
  • Features an inline serviceable 3/4" check assembly with field replaceable seat and disc.

Main Valve Features

  • Inline serviceable assembly requires no special tools for maintenance.
  • Captured modular spring assembly and captured O-ring design.
  • Modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve and clapper check assembly.

Shutoff Valves & Test Cocks

  • Fitted with UL Classified and FM Approved OS&Y (Outside Stem and Yoke) resilient wedge gate valves.
  • Contains four properly located resilient seated test cocks.

FAQs

What is the primary function of the FEBCO MasterSeries LF866 assembly?

The primary function is to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage, especially in high hazard or toxic applications.

Is this backflow preventer assembly lead-free?

Yes, the FEBCO MasterSeries LF866 is Lead Free, meaning the wetted surfaces of the product contain less than 0.25% of lead by weight, complying with low lead installation requirements.

What is ArmorTek® coating, and what are its benefits?

ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy system applied to the ductile iron body. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates, enhancing the assembly's durability and lifespan.

How does the flood sensor work, and what is needed to activate it?

The flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate its alerting capabilities (e.g., call, email, text), an add-on connection kit is required. Without this kit, the sensor is passive.

What type of shutoff valves are included with this assembly?

This assembly is fitted with UL Classified and FM Approved OS&Y (Outside Stem and Yoke) resilient wedge gate valves, which are compliant with AWWA Standard C511.
