Description

This 4 inch FEBCO Lead Free MasterSeries Reduced Pressure Zone backflow preventer assembly (LF880W/WZ) protects potable water systems from high hazard (toxic) fluids due to backpressure and backsiphonage. Designed for Z-pattern drop-in replacement, it features a durable ArmorTek® coated ductile iron body, domestic Non-Rising Stem (NRS) shutoff valves, and stainless steel relief valve and check components for extended life. An integrated SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor detects excessive relief valve discharge, requiring an add-on connection kit for alert activation. It is ASSE 1013 listed and rated for 175 PSI maximum working pressure.

Installation Flexibility

The MasterSeries LF880W/WZ is designed for versatile installation, allowing for direct drop-in replacement of competitor valves in both N-pattern (LF886W) and Z-pattern (LF886WZ) orientations. It supports both vertical up or vertical down N-pattern and vertical up Z-pattern installations.

Flood Sensor Connection

The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology requires an add-on connection kit for activation and communication. Connection kit options enable integration with:

  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Cellular communication
  • Sensor Control Monitor for integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi

The end connections are compliant to ASME B16.1 Class 125 and AWWA Class D Flange standards.

Additional Details

The 4 inch Lead Free MasterSeries® LF880W/WZ Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly is designed to protect against high hazard (toxic) fluids in water services for industrial installations and applications. This assembly features a longer lay-length for drop-in replacement of competitor’s Z-pattern valves, and can also be used for N-pattern installations.

Key Features

  • Provides protection against backpressure and backsiphonage conditions.
  • Ductile iron valve body with ArmorTek® coating technology for corrosion resistance.
  • Includes domestic non-rising stem (NRS) shutoff valves.
  • Stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for durability.
  • Inline serviceable assembly requires no special tools.
  • Captured modular spring assembly and clapper check assembly.
  • Reversible and replaceable discs and field replaceable seats.
  • Lead Free construction complies with low lead installation requirements.

Flood Sensor Technology

  • Equipped with a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • Relays a signal that triggers a multichannel alert (call, email, text) to notify personnel of potential flooding.

An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that does not communicate with any other device.

Use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge. Watts® is not responsible for the failure of alerts due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.

FAQs

What is the primary function of the FEBCO 4 inch LF880W/WZ backflow preventer?

This backflow preventer is designed to protect potable water systems from contamination by high hazard (toxic) fluids caused by backpressure and backsiphonage in industrial and commercial applications.

Does this backflow preventer offer a drop-in replacement for existing installations?

Yes, the MasterSeries LF880W/WZ is specifically designed with a longer gate-to-gate length for direct drop-in replacement of competitor Z-pattern valves, and it also supports N-pattern installations.

What kind of shutoff valves are included with this assembly?

This assembly comes equipped with domestic Non-Rising Stem (NRS) gate shutoff valves, which comply with AWWA C509 standards.

How does the SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor function?

The integrated flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve and relays a signal for potential flooding alerts. An add-on connection kit is required to activate its communication capabilities.

What materials are used in the main components and for corrosion protection?

The main valve body and relief valve body are made from Ductile Iron Grade 65-45-12, coated with ArmorTek® powder coating for enhanced corrosion resistance. Internal check and relief valve seats are stainless steel, and discs are silicone.
