Help Me Connect

Flood Sensor Connectivity

  • The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology requires an add-on connection kit (sold separately) to activate its alert capabilities.
  • Connection kit options include BMS (Building Management System) or cellular communication.
  • For advanced integration, the Sensor Control Monitor enables connectivity with BAS (Building Automation Systems) via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.
  • The flood sensor detects excessive water discharge from the relief valve.

Additional Details

This 4 inch lead free MasterSeries® Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) backflow preventer assembly protects potable water systems from high hazard (toxic) fluids due to backpressure and backsiphonage conditions. It features a longer lay-length for drop-in replacement of competitor’s Z-pattern valves.

Construction & Materials

  • The assembly features an ArmorTek® coated ductile iron body, designed to resist microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and electrochemical corrosion.
  • Equipped with stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Includes Silicone elastomer discs, which are reversible and replaceable for extended life.
  • Comes with domestic OSY (Outside Stem and Yoke) resilient seated gate valves.
  • Constructed with Lead Free wetted surfaces, containing less than 0.25% lead by weight, to comply with low lead installation requirements.

Flood Detection & Alerts

  • An integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • An add-on connection kit (sold separately) is required to activate the flood sensor and enable it to relay alerts for potential flooding events.
  • Connection kit options include integration with BMS (Building Management Systems), cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor which enables connectivity with BAS (Building Automation Systems) via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.
  • The flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required installation, operation, and maintenance instructions, codes, and regulations for this product, including proper drainage in the event of a discharge. Watts® is not responsible for the failure of alerts due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.

Key Features

  • Features a longer gate-to-gate length for direct drop-in replacement of existing Z-pattern valves.
  • Designed as an inline serviceable assembly, requiring no special tools for maintenance.
  • Supports both vertical up or vertical down N-pattern and vertical up Z-pattern installation.
  • Includes a captured modular spring assembly and clapper check assembly.
  • Offers field replaceable seats and a modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve.

FAQs

What is the primary function of this backflow preventer?

This MasterSeries® Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) backflow preventer assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination due to high hazard (toxic) fluids caused by backpressure and backsiphonage conditions.

Is this backflow preventer suitable for Z-pattern installations?

Yes, this LF880W/WZ model features a longer gate-to-gate length specifically designed for drop-in replacement of competitor’s Z-pattern valves. It also supports N-pattern installations.

What is the purpose of the integrated flood sensor?

The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology is designed to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate alert capabilities, an add-on connection kit (sold separately) is required.

What material is the valve body made from, and how is it protected?

The main valve body and relief valve body are made from ductile iron Grade 65-45-12. They are protected with ArmorTek® powder coating, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system engineered to resist microbial-induced and electrochemical corrosion.

What are the maximum operating pressure and temperature?

This backflow preventer has a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12.1 bar) and can operate continuously within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).
