Connections & Compatibility

This 4 inch FEBCO MasterSeries LF880W/WZ backflow preventer assembly is specifically designed as a drop-in replacement for competitor's valves configured for Z-pattern installations, featuring a longer gate-to-gate length. It is intended for installation on potable water supply lines at cross-connection points in high hazard/toxic applications.

The assembly is supplied without shutoff valves (LG option). End connections are compliant to ASME B16.1 Class 125 & AWWA Class D Flange.

The integrated flood sensor requires an add-on connection kit for activation and communication. Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor for integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

Additional Details

This 4 inch FEBCO MasterSeries® Model LF880W/WZ Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from high hazard/toxic fluids caused by backpressure and backsiphonage conditions in industrial and other applications.

This assembly is specifically configured for Z-pattern installations and comes without shutoff valves, featuring a longer gate-to-gate length for drop-in replacement of competitor's Z-pattern valves.

Construction & Features

  • Features Lead Free construction, containing less than 0.25% lead by weight on wetted surfaces.
  • Valve body and internal iron components are coated with ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate.
  • Utilizes stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance, durability, and extended valve life.
  • Includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve, signaling potential flooding.
  • Designed for inline serviceability without special tools.
  • Features a modular spring assembly and clapper check assembly.
  • Equipped with reversible and replaceable discs and field replaceable seats.
  • Body design made from Ductile Iron Grade 65-45-12.

NOTICE: An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that does not communicate with any other device. The flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of this 4 inch FEBCO backflow preventer?

This backflow preventer is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination by high hazard (toxic) fluids that could enter the system due to backpressure or backsiphonage conditions.

Does this assembly include shutoff valves?

No, this specific LF880W/WZ model (option code LG) is supplied without shutoff valves. Shutoff valves would need to be sourced separately if required for the installation.

What does "Lead Free" mean for this product?

"Lead Free" indicates that the wetted surface of this product, which comes into contact with consumable water, contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight, complying with low lead installation requirements.

How does the flood sensor function, and what is required to activate it?

The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate the sensor and enable communication (e.g., alerts), an add-on connection kit is required. Without this kit, the sensor is a passive component.

What type of installation is this backflow preventer designed for?

This 4 inch MasterSeries LF880W/WZ is designed for Z-pattern vertical up installations. It features a longer gate-to-gate length for convenient drop-in replacement of existing Z-pattern competitor valves.
