Description

The FEBCO MasterSeries LF886W Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly is a 4-inch lead-free backflow preventer designed to protect potable water systems from high hazard contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage. Its ductile iron body features ArmorTek corrosion-resistant coating for durability and extended life. This assembly offers a longer lay-length for easy drop-in replacement of competitor N-pattern valves. Key features include a stainless steel relief valve seat, stainless steel check components, a 5/8" x 3/4" cubic feet per minute (CFM) metered bypass for leak detection, and an integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert technology for discharge monitoring. The flood sensor requires an add-on connection kit for communication.

Connection Information

  • This FEBCO MasterSeries LF886W Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly is designed as a direct drop-in replacement for competitor's backflow preventers with an N-pattern lay-length in sizes 4" to 10".
  • It should be installed on the potable water supply at each point of cross-connection for high hazard/toxic applications.
  • The assembly is supplied without shutoff valves (LG option).

Flood Sensor Connectivity

  • The integrated flood sensor detects excessive water discharge from the relief valve.
  • An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor's communication features.
  • Connection kit options include integration with Building Management Systems (BMS), cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor which enables connectivity with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

Additional Details

This FEBCO MasterSeries LF886W Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly is designed to provide primary protection against backpressure and backsiphonage conditions for high hazard/toxic fluids in industrial water services and applications.

It features a longer gate-to-gate lay-length for drop-in replacement of competitor’s N-pattern valves and includes a cubic feet per minute (CFM) metered bypass and a flood sensor for enhanced monitoring.

Main Valve Features

  • Stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability
  • Longer gate-to-gate length for drop-in replacement of longer valves
  • Inline serviceable assembly; no special tools required
  • Captured modular spring assembly
  • Reversible and replaceable discs
  • Field replaceable seats
  • Ductile iron valve body design
  • ArmorTek coating technology to resist corrosion of internals
  • Modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve
  • Clapper check assembly
  • Captured O-ring design
  • Sensor on relief valve for flood detection, activated by add-on connection kit for BMS or cellular network communication

Auxiliary Bypass Features

  • Compact design; remains in main valve assembly profile
  • Inline serviceable 3/4" check assembly; no special tools required
  • No special tools required for servicing
  • Field replaceable seat and disc

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the FEBCO LF886W Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly?

Its primary purpose is to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage of high hazard (toxic) fluids, in accordance with local governing water utility codes.

What is the significance of the "LG" option in the product name?

The "LG" option indicates that this assembly is supplied "Less shutoff valves." It is important to note that this configuration is NOT an APPROVED ASSEMBLY by UL or FM.

How does the flood sensor function, and what is required to activate its alerts?

The flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate its communication features, such as multichannel alerts (call, email, text) or integration with BMS/cellular networks, an add-on connection kit is required.

What type of lay-length does this backflow preventer offer for installation?

This model features a longer gate-to-gate lay-length, specifically designed for drop-in replacement of competitor's N-pattern valves, simplifying installation where existing longer valves are present.

What are the maximum and minimum operating pressures for this backflow preventer?

The maximum working pressure is 175 PSI (12.1 bar), and the minimum working pressure is 20 PSI (1.4 bar).
