Flood Sensor Activation

  • An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without this kit, the flood sensor acts as a passive component with no communication.
  • Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor, enabling integration with Building Automation Systems (BAS) via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa platform through Wi-Fi.

Drainage and Accessories

  • Proper drainage must be provided for discharge events. When installing a drain line, use an air gap.
  • Note that a strainer is sold separately and is not included with this assembly.

Additional Details

This 6 inch stainless steel reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly prevents the reverse flow of contaminated water from entering the potable water supply due to backsiphonage or backpressure. It is ideal for protecting health hazard cross-connections and other contaminants at the service line entrance.

This backflow assembly features a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When paired with an add-on connection kit, the sensor is activated to relay alerts for potential flooding events, triggering notification to facility personnel for corrective action.

FAQs

What type of contamination does this backflow preventer protect against?

This reduced pressure zone backflow preventer is designed to protect potable water supplies from health-hazard cross-connections, preventing the reverse flow of contaminated non-potable water due to backsiphonage or backpressure.

Is the flood sensor functional right out of the box?

The SentryPlus Alert flood sensor is included, but an add-on connection kit is required to activate its alert features. Without the kit, the sensor is passive and will not communicate discharge events.

What are the connectivity options for the flood sensor alerts?

When activated with a connection kit, the sensor can integrate with Building Management Systems (BMS), cellular networks, or the Sensor Control Monitor for BAS integration via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa platform through Wi-Fi.

What is the maximum operating pressure and temperature range for this assembly?

This 6 inch backflow preventer has a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12.1 bar) and operates within a temperature range of 33°F to 110°F (0.5°C to 43°C).

Is this backflow preventer constructed from Lead Free materials?

Yes, this assembly features Lead Free* construction, meaning the wetted surface of the product contains less than 0.25% lead by weight, complying with Lead Free installation requirements.
