Description

This 6 inch AMES 4000SS Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly is engineered to protect potable water supplies from health-hazard cross-connections. Featuring a lightweight stainless steel body and domestic OSY shutoff valves, it offers durability and ease of installation. The integrated SentryPlus Alert flood sensor detects continuous relief valve discharge and can be activated with an add-on connection kit for remote alerts via BMS, cellular, or Wi-Fi to prevent flooding and damage. With a maximum working pressure of 175 psi and Lead Free construction, it ensures reliable backflow prevention for critical applications.

Help Me Connect

This 6 inch Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer is designed for installation at cross-connections identified as health hazard applications to prevent backflow into potable water supplies.

The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert technology requires an add-on connection kit to become active and relay alerts. This kit is compatible with various systems:

  • BMS (Building Management Systems)
  • Cellular Network Communication
  • Sensor Control Monitor for integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa platform through Wi-Fi.

The assembly features flanged connections in accordance with AWWA Class D standards.

Additional Details

This 6 inch stainless steel reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of contaminated water of non-potable quality into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and backpressure.

It is ideal for protection at health hazard cross-connections and against other contaminants found at the service line entrance.

Features

  • Features a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert technology to detect continuous discharge from the relief valve.
  • Requires an add-on sensor connection kit to activate the flood sensor and enable alerts.
  • When paired with a connection kit, integrates with the Sensor Control Monitor to deliver maintenance alerts to BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa platform by Wi-Fi.
  • Stainless steel body is half the weight of competitive designs, reducing installation and shipping costs.
  • Includes domestic outside stem and yoke resilient seated gate valves.
  • Cam-check assembly provides maximum flow at low pressure drop.
  • Short end-to-end dimensions make retrofitting easy.
  • No special tools required for servicing.
  • Compact construction allows for smaller enclosures.
  • Stainless steel relief valve features a balanced rolling diaphragm to eliminate sliding seals and lower maintenance costs.
  • Lead Free* construction (wetted surfaces contain less than 0.25% lead by weight).
An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component and will not communicate with any other device. Use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the AMES 4000SS Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer?

Its primary purpose is to prevent contaminated water from flowing back into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage or backpressure, particularly at health hazard cross-connections.

What is the nominal size of this backflow preventer assembly?

This particular assembly is 6 inches in size, designed for larger commercial or industrial applications.

What material is the main body of the 4000SS assembly constructed from?

The main valve body is constructed from 300 Series stainless steel, which provides long-term corrosion resistance and maximum strength while being half the weight of competitive designs.

How does the integrated SentryPlus Alert flood sensor function?

The flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate alerts and enable communication, an add-on connection kit is required, which can integrate with BMS, cellular networks, or Wi-Fi platforms.

What is the maximum working pressure for this backflow preventer?

This 6 inch 4000SS assembly has a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12.1 bar).
