Installation Orientation
- This Watts Series 957 backflow preventer is approved for horizontal N pattern installation. Ensure the assembly is installed in accordance with the direction of the flow arrow for proper function.
- It features grooved inlet gate connections and grooved outlet gate connections for easy integration into existing pipelines.
Drainage and Sensor Connection
- When installing a drain line on this Series 957 backflow preventer, use 957AG air gaps. Attach the air gap brackets directly onto the flood sensor for optimal performance.
- An add-on sensor connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor's alert features for BMS, cellular communication, or integration with a Sensor Control Monitor for BAS via RS-485 Modbus or Nexa platform by Wi-Fi.

Additional Details
The Watts Series 957 6 inch Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) backflow preventer provides critical protection for potable water systems from contamination due to backsiphonage or backpressure in health hazard applications. This compact and lightweight assembly features OSY shutoff valves and an N pattern orientation, approved for horizontal installation.
Key Features
- Equipped with a flood sensor featuring SentryPlus Alert technology to detect continuous discharge from the relief valve.
- Housed in a durable 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel body and sleeve.
- Features UL and FM Approved outside stem and yoke (OSY) resilient seated gate valves.
- Includes replaceable check disc rubber and a bottom mounted cast stainless steel relief valve.
- Designed with groove couplings for simplified installation and pipeline adjustment.
- Patented torsion spring checks for lowest pressure loss and unmatched ease of serviceability.
- Overall compact design is 70% lighter than traditional designs, allowing for smaller enclosures.
Flood Sensor Technology
- The integrated flood sensor is designed to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve, relaying a signal for corrective action and limiting potential flooding.
- An add-on sensor connection kit is required to activate flood alerts. Without this kit, the sensor is a passive component.
- Compatible with BMS (Building Management Systems) and cellular network communication via an add-on connection kit.
- With the Sensor Control Monitor, it delivers maintenance alerts to BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa platform by Wi-Fi connectivity.
Use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including providing proper drainage in the event of a discharge.
