FAQs

What is the primary function of the Watts Series 994 Backflow Preventer?

The Watts Series 994 Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly is designed to protect potable water supplies from health hazard cross-connections, preventing reverse flow of contaminated liquids due to backpressure or backsiphonage.

Is the integrated flood sensor active immediately upon installation?

No, the integrated flood sensor is a passive component. An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood alert feature and enable communication with other devices.

What type of shutoff valves does this assembly use?

This assembly features non-rising stem (NRS) resilient seated gate valves, as indicated by the "NRS" in the product name.

What is the maximum operating pressure and temperature for this backflow preventer?

This backflow preventer has a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12.1 bar) and operates within a temperature range of 33°F-110°F (0.5°C - 43°C).

Is this product suitable for outdoor installation?

Yes, its stainless steel construction provides long-term corrosion resistance, and the bottom-mounted relief valve reduces clearance requirements, making it suitable for installations against an outside wall.
