Additional Details

This 6 inch lead free MasterSeries® LF860 Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly is designed to protect potable water systems from high hazard (toxic) fluids by preventing backpressure and backsiphonage conditions.

The assembly features a durable lead-free ductile iron body, non-rising stem (NRS) shutoff valves, top-mounted test cocks, spring-loaded check valves, and a pressure differential relief valve.

Key Features & Protection

  • Designed for high hazard/toxic applications in potable drinking water systems.
  • Incorporates ArmorTek® coating technology, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system, to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate.
  • Equipped with a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve, capable of relaying alerts when paired with an add-on connection kit.
  • Features stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Lead Free construction complies with low lead installation requirements (wetted surface contains less than 0.25% lead by weight).
  • Inline serviceable assembly means no special tools are required for servicing the pressure differential relief valve and check modules.

Components

  • Captured modular spring assembly for reliability.
  • Reversible and replaceable discs for extended life.
  • Field replaceable seats for easy maintenance.
  • Clapper check assembly for effective backflow prevention.
  • Captured O-ring design for secure sealing.

NOTICE: An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor for communication. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that does not communicate with any other device. Use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product. Watts® is not responsible for the failure of alerts due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the FEBCO 6 inch LF860 Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly?

This backflow preventer assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage conditions. It is intended for high hazard/toxic applications where non-potable quality water might otherwise enter the potable water supply.

What does 'Lead Free' construction mean for this product?

Lead Free construction ensures that the wetted surface of this product, which contacts consumable water, contains less than 0.25% lead by weight. This complies with low lead installation requirements for potable water systems.

How does the flood sensor function on this LF860 assembly?

The flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate the sensor and enable it to relay multichannel alerts (call, email, text) about potential flooding, an add-on connection kit is required. Without the kit, the sensor is passive.

What is ArmorTek® coating and what are its benefits?

ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system applied to the ductile iron valve body, both internally and externally. Its primary benefit is to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate, enhancing the lifespan and durability of the backflow preventer.

What types of shutoff valves are included with this 6 inch LF860 assembly?

This assembly is fitted with Non-Rising Stem (NRS) resilient wedge gate valves, which comply with AWWA C509 standards. These valves control the flow of water into and out of the assembly.
