Description

The 6 inch FEBCO MasterSeries LF860 is a lead free reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly designed for high hazard (toxic) fluid protection in industrial water services. It features durable ductile iron construction with ArmorTek epoxy coating for superior corrosion resistance against microbial induced and exposed metal substrate corrosion. The assembly includes outside stem and yoke (OSY) shutoff valves, stainless steel relief valve seats, and check components for reliable performance. An integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert technology detects excessive relief valve discharge, requiring a separate connection kit for alert activation. This ASSE 1013 listed assembly has a maximum working pressure of 175 PSI.

Application & Protection

  • Designed for installation on potable water supply lines to protect against backpressure and backsiphonage conditions in high hazard/toxic applications, commonly found in industrial and commercial settings.

Connections

  • End connections are compliant with ASME B16.1 Class 125 and AWWA Class D Flange standards.

Flood Sensor Connectivity

  • The integrated flood sensor requires an add-on connection kit (sold separately) to activate alerts.
  • Connection kit options allow integration with Building Management Systems (BMS), cellular networks, or the Sensor Control Monitor for communication via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform (Wi-Fi).

Additional Details

This 6 inch lead free MasterSeries® LF860 reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to protect against high hazard (toxic) fluids in water services to industrial installations and applications.

This assembly features outside stem and yoke (OSY) shutoff valves, top-mounted test cocks, spring-loaded check valves, and a pressure differential relief valve.

Corrosion Resistance

  • The ductile iron body is fused with patented 3-part ArmorTek® epoxy coating for advanced corrosion resistance, limiting both microbial induced (MIC) and exposed metal substrate corrosion.

Performance & Durability

  • Improved with a stainless-steel relief valve seat and stainless-steel check components for maximum performance, greater dependability, and extended valve life.

Flood Detection

  • Includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor; without it, the flood sensor is a passive component that does not communicate with any other device. When paired with an add-on connection kit, the sensor activates to relay alerts for potential flooding events via BMS, cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor (integrates with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi).

FAQs

What is the primary use of this backflow preventer assembly?

This 6 inch MasterSeries LF860 reduced pressure zone assembly is designed to protect potable water systems from high hazard (toxic) fluids caused by backpressure and backsiphonage in industrial and commercial applications.

Is this backflow preventer lead free?

Yes, this LF860 assembly features lead free construction. The wetted surfaces of this product contain less than 0.25% lead by weight, complying with low lead installation requirements.

How does the ArmorTek coating benefit this assembly?

The patented ArmorTek coating is a three-part advanced epoxy system applied to the ductile iron body. It is engineered to resist both microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate, enhancing the assembly's longevity and performance.

How does the flood sensor function, and what is required to activate it?

The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate its alert capabilities, an add-on connection kit (sold separately) is required, which enables communication for notifications.

What are the maximum operating pressure and temperature limits for this assembly?

This backflow preventer assembly has a maximum working pressure of 175 PSI (12.1 bar) and can operate continuously within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).
